Knife Sharpener trainee/apprentice wanted for new blade sharpening company. $20/hour.
No experience is necessary as I am happy to train the right, motivated individual in the art of sharpening blades using an automatic blade sharpener. Anyone can learn how to sharpen knives as long as they do not fear mechanical equipment and sharp blades so some experience with tools or machinery is a plus but not required. Friendly customer service is definately required. Confidence is key. Once you learn how, sharpeing is not difficult.
The job goes like this:
1. Greet customers, answer questions, take knife sharpening orders, and give a reciept
2. Sharpen knives and tools
3. Answer phones
4. Execute cash and CC transactions
5. Answer messages on facebook
6. Sweep & clean shop space
7. Chit chat with customers
Duties include
- sharpening knives
- taking orders
- answering Facebook inquiries
- sweeping up
- cash handling
- answering phone
- calling customers
- cleaning & organizing workspace
- record keeping
Initial schedule will be light - 3 hours a day for 3 days per week. Hours would be from around 9am to noon or 3pm to 6pm. I imagine more opportuities for hours once we're up and running. I'd like to grow this business a bit and then promote someone to a managing partner position after a few months so I can focus on other things.
I imagine this as a good gig for a stay at home Mom/parent who can get away for a few hours or perhaps a college student or a waitress/server working nights. Other opportunities exist in my vintage home decor shop.
