La Merenda is looking to hire a Part-time Butchers assistant. Applicants need at least 1 year of basic butchering and meat cutting experience. Charcuterie and meat processing experience is a plus. We are offering part-time flexible hours to fit into your schedule. Please include an up to date resume to be considered for this position.
Duties include:
Sharpening and adjusting cutting equipment
Receiving, inspecting, and storing meat upon delivery
Cutting, boning, and grinding pieces of meat
Weighing, wrapping, and displaying cuts of meat
Cutting meats to specification or customers orders
Storing meats in refrigerators or freezers at the required temperature
Cutting and trimming meat from whole carcasses into steaks, chops, roasts, and other cuts
Clean equipment and work areas to maintain health and sanitation standards
Essential Functions:
Butchers assistants are required use sharp tools such as knives, grinders, or meat saws.
They must follow strict sanitation standards when cleaning equipment, counter tops, and working areas.
Applicants must be able to stand for long periods, lift up to 40lbs, and have bi-manual dexterity
