Job Summary:
The Pastry Chef at Western Racquet Club will assist the Executive Pastry Chef in creating high-quality desserts, pastries, and baked goods for the club's dining services, banquets, and special events. This hands-on internship offers an excellent opportunity to develop pastry-making skills in a professional kitchen, while gaining experience in culinary techniques, presentation, and kitchen operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Pastry Production: Assist in the preparation, baking, and presentation of a variety of pastries, desserts, cakes, and other baked goods, following recipes and guidelines provided by the Executive Chef.
Ingredient Preparation: Measure and prepare ingredients for pastry production, ensuring accuracy and consistency in all items produced.
Decoration & Presentation: Learn and apply techniques for decorating pastries and desserts, focusing on both taste and aesthetic presentation.
Quality Control: Assist in maintaining high standards of quality, ensuring all pastries and baked goods meet the club’s expectations for taste, texture, and appearance.
Cleanliness & Organization: Help maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen environment, including proper storage and labeling of ingredients, and cleaning of work areas and equipment.
Learning Opportunity: Work closely with the Executive Pastry Chef to gain insight into menu planning, pastry trends, and advanced pastry techniques.
Event Support: Assist in the preparation of desserts for special events, including weddings, banquets, and club functions, ensuring timely and organized delivery of all items.
Inventory Management: Assist in tracking inventory and reporting any shortages or needs for pastry-specific ingredients.
Team Collaboration: Work with the broader kitchen team to ensure the smooth operation of the kitchen, especially during high-volume service times.
