  • Summary About the Position: This position is a DOD Cyber Excepted Service (CES) personnel system position in the Excepted Service under 10 USC 1599f. Employees occupying CES positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is located at the 7TH SIG CMD (T) 93RD SIG BDREGIONAL NTWK ENT CTR, FTCAMPBELL, KY. Responsibilities Installs, tests, maintains, and upgrades networking systems software and/or hardware which provide decision making information support related to command and installation networks and local area networks. Analyzes and evaluates the nature and scope of computer networks and the work to be automated and makes recommendations to determine the need for system development, modification, and redesign. Prepares and coordinates project authorization documents, operational benefit statement, cost comparisons of alternatives, status reports, requirements documentation, risk analyses and other technical documentation. Serves as a Node Site Coordinator for SIPRNET and NIPRNET, responsible for coordination with Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA), Department of the Army, Pentagon, and contractor representatives. Specialized experience would be demonstrated by applying IT security principles and methods in configuring switches, routers, wireless conductor/controllers, performing packet filtering, and troubleshooting network issues part of Metropolitan Area Network (MAN) and Wide Area Network (WAN) networks. Analyzes and evaluates the nature and scope of supported networks and makes recommendations to determine the need for system development, modification, and redesign. Analyzes, evaluates network equipment security configurations and network equipment. Develops network management and network administration guidelines, policies, and procedures.
