Job InformationOpen to the general public and any current Municipal employee.This is a non-represented position (no union affiliation) and is subject to the provisions of the Personnel Rules of the Municipality of Anchorage.DEPARTMENT: Public TransportationHOURS OF WORK: Monday thru Friday; 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM LOCATION: 3600 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. AvenueExample of DutiesProvides overall leadership and direction to all Public Transportation Department (PTD) services and resources. Serves as principal advisor to People Mover, AnchorRIDES, and RideShare. Establishes annual goals and objectives, short and long range plans, andpolicies and procedures to ensure the policy direction of the Administration is carried out in an expeditious and cost-effective manner. Provides leadership and direction to the Senior Management Team and serves as the top-level executive responsible and accountable for interpreting and carrying out the Administration’s directives. Acts as liaison between the Administration, Assembly, and all Public Transportation Department employees. Serve as a representative and strengthen relationships with other agencies, jurisdictions, state and federal regulatory agencies, local media, citizen interest groups, and private businesses.Minimum Qualifications / Substitutions / PreferencesHigh school diploma, GED, or equivalent and twelve (12) years of experience in public transportation with a working knowledge of labor negotiations, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements, and transportation logistics of which two (2) years have been in a supervisory or lead capacity.ORAssociate's degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Marketing, Urban Planning, or Engineering and ten (10) years of experience in public transportation with a working knowledge of labor negotiations, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements, and transportation logistics of which two (2) years have been in a supervisory or lead capacity.ORBachelor's degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Marketing, Urban Planning, or Engineering and eight (8) years of experience in public transportation with a working knowledge of labor negotiations, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements, and transportation logistics of which two (2) years have been in a supervisory or lead capacity.ORMaster's degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Marketing, Urban Planning, or Engineering and six (6) years of experience in public transportation with a working knowledge of labor negotiations, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements, and transportation logistics of which two (2) years have been in a supervisory or lead capacity.All applicants must possess and/or obtain:
