The Position:
Alaskan Brewing Company is searching for an Accountant. This is an advanced generalist Accountant position that will work in many areas of accounting applying sound accounting practices and principles through all aspects of accounting cycle, including updating the general ledger, subsidiary ledgers and supporting work papers, preparing, and analyzing all aspects of financial reporting. This is a supporting position, with the key customers being Alaskan Brewing managers, our customers, vendors, and external authorities including bankers, auditors, tax, valuation and insurance consultants, and regulatory agencies.
Experience and understanding in the following areas are important to be successful in this position:
General ledger accounting;
Cash and Inventory reconciliation;
Accounts receivable and payable;
Fixed Asset accounting; and
Financial statements.
Reporting to the CEO, this person is a key member of the accounting team working in collaboration with other accounting team members and crew from other departments. Knowledge and skills that are beneficial for this position include:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting is preferred. Significant experience in accounting may substitute for the degree.
3+ years of general ledger accounting experience required.
Strong computer skills and data organization interpretation are required. Excellent knowledge of Excel necessary, plus knowledge of working in an MS Office environment. Accounting software experience required.
Ability to create and maintain effective relationships with brewery personnel and all stakeholders.
Possess strong analytical and organizational skills. Attention to detail is critical, with ability to interpret and provide insight with large amounts of data.
Strong communication skills, both verbally and written.
Ability to handle sensitive or confidential information with honesty and integrity.
