Hillside Cafe is an award-winning, independent restaurant in Ahwatukee that has been locally owned and operated since 2009. We serve breakfast all day along with lunch, dinner, beer and wine. A neighborhood staple!

Very loyal following, amazing food, and friendly service. We are currently hiring for a full-time Kitchen Manager to oversee daily and weekly responsibilities in the Back of House.

Job Responsibilities:

- Oversee daily kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking, and plating, to ensure the highest standards of food quality, taste, and presentation.

- Plan and create enticing specials and seasonal menus to enhance the dining experience and attract customers.

- Control and manage inventory levels, including ordering and receiving supplies, monitoring stock levels, and minimizing waste.

- Maintain and optimize the kitchen's labor cost by developing efficient staffing schedules and adjusting staffing levels based on business demands.

- Train, mentor, and supervise kitchen staff to ensure adherence to food safety, sanitation, and hygiene standards.

- Collaborate with the management team to develop and implement cost-saving initiatives without compromising quality.

- Monitor and analyze kitchen performance metrics, such as food costs, labor costs, and kitchen efficiency, and implement strategies for improvement.

- Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations, including proper handling and storage of food, maintenance of equipment, and cleanliness of the kitchen area.

Qualifications and Skills Preferred:

- Proven experience (2 years) as a Kitchen Manager or in a similar role, preferably in a medium-sized restaurant environment.

- Extensive knowledge of culinary techniques, food preparation, and kitchen management.

- Strong leadership abilities with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

- Demonstrated ability to manage and motivate a diverse team in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment.

- Solid understanding of cost control and inventory management.

- Proficiency in creating and costing recipes, managing food costs, and developing menus.

- Knowledge of health and safety regulations and best practices in a kitchen environment.

- Exceptional organizational and time management skills.

- Creative thinking and ability to develop innovative dishes and specials.

- Food Handler's Card or willing to get one
