A centrally located street sweeping company in Phoenix, AZ is seeking a skilled and dependable Heavy Duty Equipment Technician to support our fleet of street sweepers, dump trucks, and service vehicles. This hands-on role is essential to maintaining operational readiness, safety compliance, and equipment reliability across municipal, construction, and ADOT contracts. Reliability and dependability are critical to success in this position.
Qualifications
(TRUCK SIDE)
Must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record
Must be able to speak and read English fluently
Must have proven experience in diesel and hydraulic systems (street sweeper or heavy equipment experience preferred)
Must be proficient in using modern diagnostic scanners to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues and perform timely repairs
Lead and manage a crew of 4–5 shop helpers
Strong electrical knowledge, including proper overlay of electrical harnesses
Schedule and perform routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on sweepers, trucks, and trailers
General knowledge of air brake systems
Experience replacing and diagnosing components such as injectors, drive lines, turbos, HUEI pumps, and PTO systems
Maintain accurate service records and assist with parts inventory tracking, purchasing, and budgeting
Provide emergency repair support for field operations and ensure equipment readiness
Collaborate with supervisors to prioritize repairs and preventive maintenance
Uphold shop safety standards, cleanliness, and compliance with company protocols
(SWEEPER SIDE)
Hands-on experience with hydraulic systems, including understanding their function and operation
Familiarity with older systems using diodes and relays
Experience with newer Elgin systems, including the ability to troubleshoot functions via scanner and retrofit manual relay switches with custom overlays
Availability for weekend shifts and night callouts is required
Welding and fabrication skills are a plus

Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in outdoor/shop environments
Strong attention to detail, safety-first mindset, and team-oriented attitude
Weekend availability and night calls will be required
