Payroll Specialist

Description We are offering employment for a Payroll Specialist position in Bakersfield, California. The individual will be a crucial member of our team, responsible for managing payroll operations from start to finish for over 350 employees. This role involves interacting with various departments, ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing, and using software like ADP or Paylocity.Responsibilities: Manage all aspects of payroll and associated benefits administration Review and validate employee time and labor data, liaising with supervisors to clarify data and rectify discrepancies Set up and ensure the accuracy of federal, state, and local taxes, pension contributions, employee benefit contributions, garnishments, and other paycheck deductions Carry out payroll closing procedures Respond to inquiries from employees about paycheck amounts, deductions, leave accrivals, direct deposit, and other payroll-related matters Ensure the company's compliance with federal, state, and local legal requirements in the payroll system, including establishing necessary tax and unemployment accounts Generate necessary payroll reports Conduct Employment Verifications Prepare self-reported benefit invoices, reconcile other benefits invoices, and resolve discrepancies before making payments Evaluate current processes to minimize payroll errors and actively work towards resolving any errors or issues promptly Collaborate with colleagues across departments to enhance and implement new payroll practices Manage confidential payroll data including mileage, earnings, sabbatical lists, and payroll files Assist with internal and external audits of wage, labor, and benefit information Oversee records of contribution and payments for employee benefits program, including COBRA payments Reconcile 401(a), 403(b), and 457 contributions and fund employees’ accounts Develop and maintain a system for tracking driver’s license and car insurance Participate in various audits Perform additional similar duties as assigned.Requirements Proficient in Accounting Software Systems Experience with ADP - Financial Services Proficiency in ADP Workforce Now Familiarity with Ceridian Experience using Crystal Reports Knowledge of 401k - RRSP Administration Familiarity with About Time Understanding of Accounting Functions Experience in Auditing Knowledge of Benefit Functions Experience in Full Cycle Payroll Proficiency in Benefits Payroll Ability to Process Payroll Knowledge of Tax - Payroll Experience in Payroll - Garnishments Robert Half is the world’s first and largest specialized talent solutions firm that connects highly qualified job seekers to opportunities at great companies.
