GENERAL FUNCTION:The Industry Closing Manager I will provide high level support to Management and have a strong knowledge of external loan documentation. The incumbent will be responsible for all aspects of the closing process while reviewing loan documentation and due diligence items to provide critical feedback to appropriate parties. This role will be a critical link between the lending divisions and internal/external counsel.The role is responsible and accountable for risk by openly exchanging ideas and opinions, elevating concerns, and personally following policies and procedures as defined. While operating within the Bank's risk appetite, achieves results by consistently identifying, assessing, managing, monitoring, and reporting risks of all types.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manages the entire loan closing process and ensures transactions are closed per credit approval. Active member of the deal team and lead contact with external counsel. Work with Relationship Manager (RM), Portfolio Manager (PM), Credit Analyst, Commercial Banking Associate (CBA), Credit Approver and vendors providing expertise to the team to ensure policy, legal, compliance and regulatory matters necessary for closing are addressed early in the process.
The documentation process includes all new loans, amended and restated, renewals, modifications and amendments to ensure legal documents conform to what was approved. Compares the Approval Document CAM/CIT to the draft loan documentation and provides recommendations to the RM and counsel regarding any discrepancies prior to documents being released to client as well as reviews all subsequent changes.
Reviews existing collateral via imaging archive platform when renewing or amending existing loans to ensure proper documentation is obtained.
Coordinates various aspects of direct loans, syndications, participations and leases.
Develops efficiencies that will add value to the closing process and the loan processing system.
Assists in the development and training of other coordinators.
Regularly takes on Departmental projects and initiatives under instruction from Management.
Assists management with tracking and reporting of key data along with inputting of figures and statistics via spreadsheets and power point.
Responsible for completing and or obtaining master checklist, BOLT and Credit Portal documents.
Orders and reviews any necessary due diligence items are received (title, UCC, appraisal, environmental, flood, insurance, survey, entity documents).
Prepares settlement statement for disbursement and provides clear to close approval.
Ensures funding and boarding team accurately executes on funding instructions.
Conducts post boarding review working closely with the post-closing teams to make certain the loan is coded and boarded properly.
After loan closing obtains original loan documents and forwards to post-closing department for exception review, imaging where documents are then sent to collateral department to be housed.
Proactively resolves post-closing issues and/or documentation deficiencies with Attorney, RM and CBA’s (if necessary). Loads non-resolved issues as exceptions on Master Loan Checklist.
Proactively follows up on all exceptions and provides recommendations and updates to RM. Suggests alternative solutions for outstanding documentation items based on certain variables.
Maintain the accuracy of department database and status of the deal at all times.
Communicate with the Lender and CBAs on a frequent basis regarding open items, timing of transactions, and prioritizing the workload per division.
Complies with all applicable federal and state laws and regulations.

High school diploma or equivalent. Bachelor’s degree preferred
7+ years of experience in a financial institution with a focus on due diligence and/or loan documentation. Commercial loan experience preferred.
5+ years of management experience
Experience in an automated loan origination environment preferred.
Exceptional time management and organizational skills evidenced in previous assignments.
Demonstrates an understanding of applicable bank policies and procedures as they pertain to the satisfaction of loan closing conditions as well as vendor documents and services.
Exceptional knowledge of commercial lending and loans.
Thorough understanding of all Commercial loan products.
Thorough knowledge of Commercial Lending Credit Policy/Guidelines.
Thorough knowledge of loan documentation, collateral evaluation, lien perfection, local, state and federal regulatory requirements.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Strong negotiation skills.
Ability to appropriately escalate issues requiring problem solving and decision making.
Good interpersonal skills and team orientation.
