Fluid Resource Management (FRM) is a contract operator for water and wastewater systems based in California's Central Coast. FRM is currently seeking candidates for a full time Water Distribution and Treatment Operator. At a minimum, applicants must possess a valid California Water Distribution Grade D2 Certification (or higher); concurrent possession of a Water Treatment Grade T1 Certification or higher is preferred.
Ideal candidates will have at least 1 year experience as a Distribution and Treatment Operator.
Water Operators are responsible for the day-to-day performance of general duties related to the operation of water distribution and water treatment systems. Operator is expected to perform the following tasks as appropriate based on licenses and/or certificates required, experience, and training:
Daily routine inspection of water treatment plants and/or distribution systems
Checks and records data from meters, gauges, pumps, and control panels to verify correct operation of equipment
Read water meters
Respond to water leak
Respond to customer complaints
Perform maintenance of system equipment such as fire hydrants, meters, valves, backflow prevention devices, cla-vals, PRVs, vacuum breakers, etc.
Completes required logs and reporting
Performs lab duties and sampling for water facilities which include: pH, nitrates, chlorine residual, bacteriological sampling, temperature, etc.
Adjust treatment systems, chemical addition and controls systems to achieve optimum treatment results
Plans, coordinates, manages, reviews and evaluates treatment facilities, distribution systems, maintenance and disposal activities
Completes internal company calendars, log books, check sheets, memos etc.
Understand and adhere to company policies and operating procedures.
Care and maintenance of company issued equipment including, vehicle, hand tools, power tools, computer, phone, lab equipment etc.
Attend necessary company and client meetings, training
Maintain certificates and licenses necessary for assigned duties
After a minimum of a year experience working at FRM, candidate will apply for Operator-In-Training (OIT) certification with State Water Resources Control Board. Once certified, OIT is expected to perform the following tasks under supervision of a licensed wastewater operator:
Performs daily routine inspection of wastewater treatment plants and/or collection systems
Checks meters, gauges, pumps, and control panels to verify correct operation equipment and records information
Performs lab duties and sampling wastewater facilities which may include: BOD’s, total suspended solids, pH, nitrates, chlorine residual, total/fecal coliform, temperature, dissolved oxygen, etc.
Monitors and repairs plant equipment including cleaning and servicing of plant equipment as scheduled
Records daily flows
Measures sludge depth and arranges for disposal and sampling
Inspects lift stations and collection systems
Cleans bar screens
Performs housekeeping and landscaping duties as required
Completes required reporting and log books
