Job Summary:In addition to the responsibilities listed below, this senior manager position is also responsible for serving as a leader and security subject matter expert with demonstrated success leading and managing a large and comprehensive security program. This includes delivering expertise and coherence across assigned area(s) while ensuring consistent and repeatable service delivery, effective integration, alignment, and unity of effort between frontline, area, regional, and national levels of the organization to establish and maintain a strong and adaptive security posture that aligns with organizational risk tolerance and business strategies.This position is also responsible for managing geographically dispersed security teams to safeguard people, property, assets, and interests in support of the core business of providing high-quality and affordable healthcare. This includes management of facilities across multiple complex service areas within a large geographic market, and may include a wide variety of caregiving settings (e.g., hospitals, ambulatory surgical centers, medical office buildings, clinics, etc.) and other sites as appropriate (e.g., pharmacies, administrative office buildings, data centers, and other types of facilities).Finally, this role is responsible for serving as a subject matter expert for their assigned area, providing security solutions, alternatives, and recommendations across service lines, to include (but not limited to) threat management/preventing workplace violence, access control, technology integration, risk-based staffing, training, contract management, policy development, investigation & loss prevention, incident reporting/critical notifications, analysis, program measurement, continuous improvement, crime prevention, risk assessment & mitigation,Essential Responsibilities:

Aligns team efforts; builds accountability for and measuring progress in achieving results; assumes responsibility for decision making; fosters direct reports to resolve escalated issues as appropriate. Communicates goals and objectives; incorporates resources, costs, and forecasts into team and unit plans; ensures matrixed resources are fulfilling service or performance requirements across reporting lines. Removes obstacles that impact performance; identifies and addresses improvement opportunities; guides performance and develops contingency plans accordingly; influences teams and units to operate in alignment with operational and business objectives.
Monitors and prevents security incidents by: validating and influencing compliance systems technology standards and development of the security management plan to monitor premises, people, and systems (e.g., fire alarm, security, closed circuit television) to detect criminal violations or hazardous conditions in order to reduce crime, limit property loss, improve safety of physicians, employees and members, and minimize liability; developing relationships with internal department stakeholders and collaborating with local and regional law enforcement to better assess security risks and respond to incidents and inquiries; holding security team accountable for plan compliance; overseeing security and risk assessments to identify and mitigate liability and risks; and using strategic thinking, expert judgment, and discretion to provide assistance in resolving highly complex escalated issues, as needed.
If applicable to the role, supports facility access control plan by: as relevant, contributing to and overseeing the implementation of guidelines for facilities access control, which may or may not include key control, ID badge management, locking and unlocking doors, providing emergency and after hours access as appropriate, providing escorts to sensitive areas, traffic control, and vendor/patient/visitor/personnel access management; and may or may not include driving compliance with access control plan, across teams.
If applicable to the role, directs response to security and threat incidents by: if relevant, maintaining own awareness of all current emergencies, disasters, and other incidents at facilities, with consideration for their impact and severity, and ensuring team awareness; as appropriate, overseeing and coordinating response of internal and external stakeholders and resources for emergencies, disasters, burglaries, and uncooperative or combative individuals; as appropriate, influencing and executing plans for emergency response (e.g., lockdown procedures) across teams; as appropriate, managing incident response training programs for security staff, employees, and physicians; as appropriate, serving as lead investigator in highly complex security incidents; as appropriate, analyzing security incident reports and driving improvements based on analyses; as appropriate, managing efforts to compile information on potential internal and external threats and facilitating strategic planning to minimize threats with Threat Management Team; and as appropriate, gathering, reviewing, and disseminating internal and external safety/threat related intelligence to facilitate improvements in incident response.
Complies with safety and security policies and procedures by: using advanced knowledge of safety and security laws, regulations, policies, procedures, and standards to influence the development of new strategies and concepts across a wide range of situations throughout the organization; orchestrating training programs for security staff and regional employees; fostering a culture of continuous improvement and leading the review and development of department policies; and holding teams responsible for applying safety and security knowledge and training.
If applicable to the role, guides continuous improvement of security systems by: as appropriate, driving teams to integrate cutting-edge security solution design standards into new construction, renovation, and/or life cycle replacement projects; representing teams needs in adapting to security technology changes to senior leaders and guiding teams to collaborate with internal stakeholders (e.g., Information Technology, Risk Management); if applicable, leading teams to conduct industry analysis and ensuring best practices are applied; if applicable, serving as subject matter expert to hold teams accountable for making recommendations for security solutions for new construction, renovation, and/or life cycle replacement projects and represent these recommendations to higher level managers and directors; and if applicable, overseeing the maintenance and monitoring of alarms, detection devices, and other physical security devices in accordance with established processes and procedures.
Minimum Qualifications:
Four (4) years experience developing security policies and procedures (e.g., investigations, loss prevention, access control, risk assessment, crime prevention, workplace violence prevention).
Three (3) years experience supervising, managing, or leading a protective services workforce (e.g., security, law enforcement, corrrections, etc.).
Three (3) years project or program management experience.
Minimum two (2) years of experience managing operational or project budgets.
Minimum five (5) years of experience in a leadership role with direct reports.
Bachelors degree in Law Enforcement, Business Administration, Public Policy, Healthcare Management, Criminal Justice, Corporate Security, Security Management, or related field AND minimum eight (8) years of experience in Security Management, Hospital Security, Law Enforcement Management, or directly related field OR Minimum eleven (11) years of experience in Security Management, Hospital Security, Law Enforcement Management, or a directly related field.
