Our staff is well-trained and highly skilled qualities that are vital to maintaining excellence in care and service.ResponsibilitiesThe Surgery Scheduler interfaces with patients, surgery facility, anesthesiologist and provider to perform all functions related to the coordination of scheduling surgery. Scheduler will log and file all surgery requests from providers.Core Duties:
Document and input into IDX all HMO surgery authorization request
Complete all pre-op forms (blood work, ekg, chest x-ray, etc.)
Collect all lab results, chest x-rays, EKG, orders, etc. and fax to facility the day before surgery along with authorization forms
Generate labels and complete top portion of encounter forms the day before surgery and distribute along with charts to providers office
Register new hospital patients into IDX
Review and complete all surgery and hospital encounter forms from providers; highlight, copy, batch, and send to Data Drive
Submit for scanning all completed surgery forms (surgery request form, labs, orders, etc.) into EMR chart after encounter forms are completed
Contact health plans to obtain authorization for all PPO surgeries
Schedule surgeries either by facsimile or telephone call in the IDX system
Schedule pre-op and post-op appointments in IDX system
When applicable, complete form from Blood Bank and fax to facility for all autologous blood donations for total joint surgeries
Complete surgery information forms for patients; includes EKG requests, Chest x-rays, etc. and mail to patients
On an as-needed basis, the Surgery Scheduler will coordinate physician core and call schedule for hospital, distribute schedule to all providers and call center monthly, prepare monthly access report and schedule all department depositions and court appearances with assigned staff member
Coordinate all required surgical medical equipment with 3rd party vendors
Effective communication with surgery facility, anesthesiologist, patient and provider
Perform any other duties as assigned by supervisor
This position is represented by SEIU United Healthcare Worker.QualificationsMinimum Qualifications:
High school diploma required (or equivalent)
One (1) year experience in a surgery scheduling setting and/or minimum two (2) years clinical back office experience required
Excellent interpersonal, organizational and customer service skills required
Keyboarding skills and the ability to utilize computer equipment and software are required, as is experience with other types of standard office equipment
Being a team player, able to multi-task, self-starter, detail oriented and being proactive required
Preferred Qualifications:
Current California CMA cert preferred
Familiarity with an electronic practice management system is preferred
Experience with multi-line phones/ACD phones preferred
Medical terminology preferred
