Currently seeking a motivated interdisciplinary Principal Cloud & Data Engineer who has a strong desire to join our team in the El Segundo, CA area or remote , and become an integral part of the future of the Launch Enterprise.Responsibilities:
Support and improve the engineering platform and Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines
Manage containerized applications (i.e., Kubernetes, Docker) and data management tools (i.e., Palantir Foundry, Snowflake, AWS S3/RDS/Elasticsearch), including monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintaining high availability
Develop and maintain automation scripts (i.e., bash, PowerShell) and infrastructure as code templates for deploying cloud resources
Develop and maintain API connections and integrations between siloed environments using best practices (i.e., proper request handing, headers, and authentication)
Develop and maintain data visualizations (i.e., Foundry Workbench)
Develop and monitor cloud resources, including virtual machines, storage, and network components (i.e., Windows domain controller, AD management)
Develop and maintain detailed documentation (i.e., guidelines, processes, procedures) for enterprise infrastructure systems to ensure successful deployments, migrations, operations
Design and implement disaster recovery and business continuity strategies (i.e., data recovery, data duplication, ad-hoc capability workarounds, incident reporting)
Ensure all solutions and operational activities adhere to the security and operating policies established by the organization (i.e., CMMC, NIST, FedRamp, Impact Levels)
Improve site reliability through monitoring leading and trailing indicators
Collaborate with stakeholders to understand and translate business needs into specifications that support integrated and scalable designs
Routinely review and suggest improvements to our cloud environments
Advocate for and implement enterprise-wide cloud networking architecture tailored to the Space Force’s unique requirements
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering/IT or STEM.
8 years of experience in IT infrastructure, cloud engineering, technical PM or other related areas
Ability to qualify for and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance
Cloud networking experience in one or more platforms: Azure, AWS, Google, on-premise cloud
Familiarity with how to develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Webhooks, GitLab Pipelines, AWS CodePipeline, APIs, etc.)
Broad understanding of Data Architecture and Data Management approaches and implementation methodologies.
Basic networking knowledge (DNS, routing, etc.)
Strong Linux and Windows systems administration expertise in a Cloud or Virtualized environment (CLI and GUI)
Experience with IT compliance and risk management requirements, including experience working towards and maintaining proper security compliance (DoD SRG, Impact Levels 2-5, NIST SP 800-171, CMMC, etc.)
Experience with building and managing containerized systems using infrastructure as code (creating images, deploying pods, connecting containers, etc.)
Experience with monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintaining data management tools with high availability
Experience creating automation scripts that can run in Windows and Linux environments for configuration management
Hands-on knowledge of AWS services (i.e., EC2, ELB, RDS, Route53, S3, CodeDeploy, CodePipeline, CloudTrail, IAM, EKS, AMS, and AppStream), or equivalent services with a comparable tool (GCP, Azure, etc.).
Experience maintaining rigorous documentation of enterprise infrastructure systems
Strong track record of implementing cloud services in a variety of distributed computing environments.
Strong trouble shooting skills in an enterprise environment
Clearance:
Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret Clearance with SCI
Preferred Qualifications:
Active DoD Top Secret Clearance with SCI
Demonstrated initiative, sound judgment, effective decision-making, successful collaboration with multiple agencies and personnel, excellent oral and written communication skills.
Current professional certificate from AWS, Azure, or GCP
Experience with Zero Trust Network Architectures
Experience with API tools (Swagger, Postman, etc.)
Experience in the Launch Enterprise or in the aerospace industry
Experience facilitating discussions with senior leadership regarding technical / architectural trade-offs, budget strategy, best practices, and risk mitigation.
Proven track record of developing innovative solutions and leading projects in an agile environment.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50%.
Needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine and computer printer.
Frequently communicates with co-workers, management and customers, which may involve delivering presentations. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
