Accounting Manager Job Description
This position hires and trains new employees in the Accounting department.
Supervises and manages the Accounting department’s assignments and priorities.
Assigns financial responsibilities in consultation with the Vice President.
Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.
Oversees the accuracy and productivity of the daily accounting activities including accounts payable, cash disbursements, invoicing/billing, customer credits and collections, payroll, bank reconciliation, and tax audits.
Prepares budgeting reports and forecast revenues.
Organizes financial data into usable information and maintains updated records.
Makes recommendations to improve the company’s fiscal efficiency based on interpretation and organization of financial information.
Assists in the development and implementation of internal controls, goals, policies, priorities, and procedures related to accounting in alignment with company targets.
Tracks the progress of financial and accounting objectives.
Participates in regular tax audits.
Manages month-end and year-end closing.
Reviews and analyzes the accounting operations and makes recommendations to maximize department productivity and efficiency.
Ensures compliance with federal, state, and company policies, procedures, and regulations.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Excellent analytical skills to manage large amounts of data
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; MS Excel in particular (managing spreadsheets, creating charts and using advanced formulas)
Experience with medium to large ERP system
3 + years in Accounting Manager or Accounting Leadership role
Manufacturing Industry experience
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business
