Position Summary
The Reefer Trailer Technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining refrigeration units on commercial trailers. This includes Thermo King and Carrier systems, ensuring optimal performance and compliance with safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
Perform diagnostics and repairs on reefer units including:
Starting and charging systems
Cooling and recharging systems
Electrical systems and fault codes
Leak detection and compressor replacement
Soldering refrigerant lines
Evaporator/condenser replacement
Engine seal replacements
Conduct preventive maintenance and DOT-mandated safety inspections
Maintain accurate records of repairs and inspections
Identify and source necessary replacement parts
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations
Be available for on-call service as needed
Qualifications
1–2 years of experience in transport refrigeration or equivalent
Certification from a diesel mechanic trade school preferred or
Experience with Thermo King or Carrier systems required
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks (bend, crouch, climb, etc.)
Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
