Studio Technology is looking for a Sr UX Designer to lead each stage of UX design delivery across a portfolio of projects that include enterprise tools, apps and technology, supporting film production across The Walt Disney Studios. They must be able to think both as a systems designer & a well-rounded creative technologist who is passionate about interactive and experiential entertainment. They possess a strong intellectual curiosity, always following the latest advances in technology and entertainment while pro-actively growing their skills. The ideal candidate must be able to work independently with minimal supervision, be a self-starter, ability to multitask, lead and establish design guidelines, meet deadlines, quickly gain an understanding of our brand and ship top notch products.RESPONSIBILITIES:
Keep up-to-date on the evolving social, cultural, technology, and design landscape and apply knowledge of new trends and innovation in the marketplace.
Help build and support small and large-scale interactive prototypes, mockups, and playtests using a variety of industry-standard and Disney-proprietary software and hardware tools.
Oversee UX design, prototyping and visual design delivery across of cross-platform experiences .
Apply deep knowledge of complex emerging tech trends to innovate and bring efficiency to production teams across the company.
Leverage extensive working knowledge of generative design research processes & be able to lead user research interviews, manage all playtests, synthesize findings, and develop insights into actionable design solutions.
Manage the production and design of communication packages related to Events and internal department Websites, including presentations, videos, marketing materials, etc.
Oversee short form content such as videos and articles including deep dives on emerging technology trends and briefings on events.
·BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
5+ years’ experience in creative technology, design, with a proven track record of rapid prototyping and UI innovation for Unity based products
Prior experience creating technology-driven entertainment/interactive experiences with focus on cutting edge tech implementation
A broad understanding, comfort, and enthusiasm for technology and the ability to quickly and proactively learn new technologies, techniques, and tools
Excellent experience designer and systems thinker. With a proven track record of creating compelling physical and digital event design
Excellent visual and design skills with a strong understanding of user-centered design principles and design thinking methods
Diverse experience in complex creative technology applications for digital and experiential (electronics, software, AV, sound, motion, installations, robotics, electronics, engineering, custom UI)
Strong knowledge of consumer brand strategy, branding, interaction design, technology, usability, and experience design - expertise in motion graphics, UI prototyping, and video production/storytelling
Advanced proficiency in a variety of design and prototype tools such as: Figma and Adobe Creative Cloud
Self-motivated, proficient in managing a large project portfolio simultaneously, work independently while adapting quickly to a fast-paced environment, and escalate issues as necessary
Excellent visual/verbal communicator with strong presentation and storytelling skills (i.e. ability to present to various levels/groups via compelling presentations and demos)
Experience working collaboratively with producers, directors, technologists, executive teams, and external vendors
Deep interest in technology as it relates to media & entertainment
EDUCATION:
BA/BS degree in Product design, Industrial design, UX & Communication design or related field/equivalent experience
MBA with focus in Systems design a plus
Update project status to management and escalate potential issues/ delays
Assist management in identifying areas for process improvement
1+ years of technical coordination experience
Basic understanding of theatrical production and post production practices
Attention to detail and accuracy, ability to learn basics of managing each request to completion
Strong ability to multi-task
Ability to work in a deadline-driven and team-based environment
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Self-motivated, ambitious, strong ability to multi-task
The hiring range for this position in Los Angeles, CA is $126,400 - $169,500 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.
