The Systemic, Therapeutic, Assessment, Resources and Treatment (START) program serves individuals residing in-home and out-of-home. It provides person-centered, trauma-informed, evidence-based, positive support for individuals ages six and older.
The National Center for START Services (NCSS) provides a model of services to meet the crisis needs of individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities (I/DD).

START Coordinator
YAI is seeking a Coordinator to work with our START program located in San Mateo. A Master's degree in Mental Health, Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or another Human Service field is required.
Responsibilities:
Participate in didactic training and required trainings
Provide systemic consultation
Participate in National Center for START Services trainings and events
Prepare agendas and document outcomes for individual mentoring sessions held with the Center for START Services
Maintain linkages and relationships with community partners
Assist with referrals for consultation and treatment as needed
Ensure the coordination of support meetings and crisis plan development for individuals served through START
Participate in recurring meetings with START leadership, clinical team, and In Home Therapeutic Coaching program
Provide home visits and visits to day and vocational settings as needed
Develop Comprehensive Service Evaluations, Cross-Systems Crisis Prevention and Intervention Plans, intake/assessments, intervention and outcome plans for In Home Therapeutic Coaching Program, inpatient hospital admissions and any other applicable documentation of services provided
Maintain an active caseload of individuals referred for START Services
Provide on-call support on a rotational basis
Participate in the START Network, which brings together projects from across North America through an online resource center, conference calls, select study groups and a meeting at an annual conference as recommended
Requirements:
MA in Mental Health, Psychology, Counseling, Social Work or other Human Service field
At least 2 years of experience working with the I/DD population
Experience working with individuals with I/DD and mental health and/or challenging behavior needs preferred
Ability to become certified as a START Coordinator within 12 months
Driver’s License Required
