Job Title: Supervisor/ Team Leader
Hours: 8am-5pm (40hrs/week with possible OT)
Compensation: $22.25-$25/hr., DOE
Salary option after four months employment and 401K benefits after one-year employment.

Position Summary
Supervisors directly coordinate, delegate and supervise activities of workers engaged in landscaping and/or gardening jobs. Work may involve reviewing contracts to determine services, machine, and workforce requirements; answering inquiries from customers regarding methods, material, and price ranges; and preparing estimates according to labor, material, and machine costs. This outline provides a comprehensive, but not limited, list of tasks and duties which a supervisor should know how to perform & handle accordingly. The supervisor is expected to be competent & implement the following tasks with all safety precautions:
Duties & Responsibilities:
● Oversee landscaping & gardening project(s)
● Understand all gardener/landscaper job duties & make sure those duties are being performed efficiently
● Teach & guide the duties of gardener/landscaper & assist in the development of crew members
● Alleviate errors, & aid workers that need assistance
● Direct project phases in proper order and conduct final inspection upon completion of installations, maintenance, tear outs, and other projects assigned
● Be the “on site” contact for clients
● Be at the office 15-30 min. earlier than the rest of the crew to organize needed tools and run safety protocols on equipment
● Maintain professionalism with coworkers and clients, report any concerns, and resolve issues that may occur
● Notify management of hazards that may occur
● Create itinerary of work that must be accomplished and know the tools necessary in order to complete work & inform the crew members
● Maintain accurate project paperwork, records, and receipts
● Maintain the existing landscaping design and ensure plant survival
● Build and maintain rapport with new and existing clients
● Drive company vehicles and trailers
● Ensure vehicles, machinery, and tools are in good working order
● Work independently, and/or in a team & follow given directions
● Able to physically stand for extended periods, bend, squat, and lift up to 50 pounds
● Perform the following tasks: cultivate, dig, and fork mulch and/or soil, water, rake, weed, edge, prune, bed preparation, plant, basic maintenance such as: cut grass, prune plants & clean up
● Operate lawnmower, trimmer, leaf blower, chainsaw, trencher, skid steer, and thatcher as needed
● Report equipment malfunctions to management when noticed
● Ensure all equipment and machinery is stored securely, with care, and clean after use
● Return tools to their designated area, and maintain tools and storage space clean and tidy
● Keep pedestrian areas free of hazard
● Participate in required trainings and meetings
● Other duties as assigned
In order to operate power equipment, company vehicles, and trailers, the applicant must show both proficiency and safety operation practices.
Minimum Qualifications
Be self-motivated, enthusiastic, fit and capable of heavy work. Demonstrated proficiency with proper usage of various tools ranging from common hand and power tools, saws, drills and wrenches. Be ready to work in all weather conditions. Have a friendly personality with great interpersonal skills. Lastly, be knowledgeable of plants, be organized, and know how to drive with a trailer. Follow and adapt to the schedule, as well as follow oral and written instruction as directed.
Preferred Qualifications
High school or equivalent diploma, driver’s license and clean driving record. MUST know how to safely drive with a trailer. Must be able to read, understand, and write English. Must be highly organized, reliable, decisive, and committed. Two - three years’ experience in multi-tasking, guiding, and leading others in a relevant role. Must provide two previous employment or character references. Experience should include but is not limited to the following: usage of horticultural and landscape machinery, pruning, shearing, planting, digging, raking, dividing, fertilizing and weeding. Experience with drip irrigation systems is an added advantage. Must professionally communicate with clients and colleagues at all times. Maintain good attendance record and be ready to work (15-30 min. before start time). Demonstrate logical and technical reasoning skills. Follow direction & work independently at times. Strong mathematical skills is an advantage.
