Shipping and Receiving Material Handling

Position Summary:

The Material Handling – Shipping and Receiving associate is responsible for supporting daily manufacturing operations by accurately receiving, organizing, and distributing materials, as well as preparing and coordinating outbound shipments. This position plays a key role in ensuring the efficient flow of metal materials and finished products throughout the facility, supporting production needs and maintaining order accuracy and inventory control.

Key Responsibilities:

Receive incoming raw materials, verify accuracy against packing slips and purchase orders, and inspect for damage or discrepancies.

Handle and move metal components, fabricated parts, and finished products safely using forklifts, pallet jacks, and/or overhead cranes.

Deliver and stage materials to production workstations based on job priorities.

Pick, pack, and prepare outgoing shipments, ensuring correct labeling, documentation, and secure loading.

Maintain accurate inventory records using tracking systems or ERP software (e.g., Acumatica, SAP, or similar).

Communicate with Production, Purchasing, and Logistics teams to coordinate material needs and resolve discrepancies.

Perform regular inventory counts and report any inconsistencies or shortages.

Maintain cleanliness and organization of the shipping, receiving, and staging areas.

Follow all safety policies and procedures when operating equipment or handling materials.

Assist in continuous improvement efforts related to inventory control and logistics processes.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent.

1–2 years of experience in a manufacturing, warehouse, or shipping/receiving environment.

Experience handling metal materials.

Operation of Forklift.

Ability to read and understand packing slips, purchase orders, work orders, and shipping documents.

Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.

Ability to lift 50+ lbs and stand, walk, or bend for extended periods.

Basic computer skills and familiarity with inventory or ERP systems.

Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently or in a team.

Working Conditions:

Manufacturing floor and warehouse setting.

Exposure to loud machinery, metal materials, dust, and changing temperatures.

Use of required PPE (gloves, steel-toe boots, safety glasses, etc.).

Frequent lifting, pushing, pulling, and operating material handling equipment.
