Find your future with us.The Boeing Company's Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) Propulsion Engine and Fuels team is searching for an Experienced or Senior Propulsion Design & Analysis Engineer to join the team in Long Beach, California.The Propulsion Engine and Fuels team is responsible for supporting various out-of-production models from a design standpoint for main engines and fuels systems. The primary responsibilities of the Engine and Fuels team are (1) ensuring safety of the fleet by evaluating in service events (2) reliability of the fleet (3) and integration with engine manufacturers.Most specifically, the team is responsible for:· Integration and prioritization of a broad spectrum of technical changes impacting main engines and fuels across multiple airplane models· Certification efforts including development of certification plans and deliverables for associated engine changes· Development and maintaining of strong, collaborative relationships with the engine manufacturers· Conducting Technical Review Meetings (TRM) with engine manufacturers· Supporting In-service customer inquiries by partnering with Service Engineering· Customer modificationsOur teams are currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including; Experienced and Senior Design & Analysis EngineerThis position is hybrid. This means that the selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options. This is at the hiring team’s discretion and could potentially change in the future.Position Responsibilities:
Provide support of technical changes impacting in-service programs in the area of propulsion installations, controls, fuels and/or performance and operability
Assess engine technical changes for aircraft level impact
Participate in certification efforts on meeting FAA and EASA regulations on various airplane programs
Coordinate with internal partners such as Propulsion Stress, Engine Management, Flight Test, Propulsion Service Engineering and the Fleet Office to meet project goals and schedules successfully
Conduct analysis, risk assessment and tests to ensure that safety, reliability, maintainability and support requirements are met for the propulsion system
Partner with other engineering disciplines to develop responses to customer inquiries and provide technical solutions and troubleshooting of engine and fuel system changes
Interface with suppliers and external partners to drive successful collaborations on engine and/or fuel system change projects
Works under minimal direction
The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor’s Degree or higher in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry or a related field. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
3 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Knowledge of Aircraft Design, systems engineering, system integration, propulsion engineering
Understanding and application of Project Management techniques.
Knowledge and application of troubleshooting of systems.
Experience in leading a team of engineers to meet a design and performance goals; and to integrate a larger system
Experience in collaborating with suppliers on design changes, troubleshooting, investigations, etc.
Good communication and organizational skills
Typical Education/Experience:Experienced (Level 3):Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.Senior (Level 4)Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related workexperience).
