We are currently seeking an experienced Controller for our client to work with the Real Estate Investment/Family Office area of their firm in West Los Angeles. This position manages the family office providing information about all company activities that will assist management, clients, investors and other users.

This position is direct hire and the workweek is Monday through Friday (40-hours)and works in the office.

Requirements

BA in Accounting

CPA optional

5 or more years of Real Estate Investment Financial experience including Property Management and/or real estate investing Family Office experience

Solid Experience with Property Management Software

Solid Experience with Microsoft office

History of and affinity for team leadership

Demonstrated ability to develop staff, lead teams, motivate people and gain respect.

Demonstrate effective oral and written communication.

Ability to comprehend, analyze and interpret complex business documents, financial reports and concepts.

Demonstrated ability to utilize problem solving skills to achieve stated goals and objectives.

Excellent people skills, both upstream and downstream. Ability to balance tact and discipline.

Have experienced directly relevant property management and family office experience.

Excellent time management skills allowing for deadlines to be met.

Essential Function

Oversee the activities of the accounting department for the accurate and timely dissemination of financial management reports including, but not limited to, internal and external monthly financial statements and other required reports.

Perform the activities of the family office, ensuring the accurate and timely processing of accounts payable, accounts receivable and cash control. Manage inter-property lending and line of credit facilities to facilitate cash management. Provide accurate and timely dissemination of financial reports including, but not limited to, internal and external monthly financial statements and other required reports.

Establish and maintain systems and controls that verify the integrity of all systems, processes and data, and enhance the company's value.

Participate in a wide variety of special projects throughout the year including year-end analysis, business license, 1099s, personal and corporate fair-market value financial statements, investment valuations for investors, and dissemination of information to CPAs and clients for taxes.

Communicate with co-workers, management, clients and others in a courteous and professional manner.

Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures and instructions.

Operations:

Responsible for the financial performance of the property management company.

Participation in and/or identification of corporate policies, best practices, and procedural issues in order to streamline operations and maintain the highest level of service.

Responsible for adherence to management agreements and partnership agreements, where applicable.

Review and approval of monthly reports for all properties and entities.

Ensure that all monthly, quarterly and annual reporting schedules are adhered to.

Review all family office invoices for proper approval prior to making payments.

Responsible for all family office cash receipts and their timely and correct allocation.

Responsible for monitoring property and family office level cash flow and ensuring availability of funds to meet property needs.

Responsible to make sure all bank reconciliations are done timely and correctly.

Customer Service:

Serve as a primary point of contact with clients and investors. Responsible for creating and maintaining excellent relationships, all client/investor communications and resolving any financial client concerns.

Proactively respond to critical feedback from clients and assist in resolving escalated client issues.
