Certified Histocompatibility Scientist responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:Perform laboratory assays in accordance with Viracor-IBT’s standard operating proceduresOperate, calibrate and maintain all laboratory equipment and instruments according to standard operating procedures to ensure quality resultsMaintain adequate inventory of supplies, reagents and materialsAccept or reject test results in accordance with standard operating proceduresDocument remedial action, troubleshooting, quality assurance activities and instrument maintenanceAdhere to established processing timelinesAdhere to all quality and safety standardsOther duties as assigned by managementSpecific to HLA, in addition to the above:Human Leukocyte Antigen (HLA) typing using serology and molecular methodsPerform Cytotoxic Crossmatching,Flow Cytomerty CrossmatchingAntibody screeningAntibody Specificity AnalysisSpleen and Lymph Node IsolationAble to select the proper specimen for the procedure givenAble to distinguish normal from abnormal resultsUtilize data to evaluate accuracy of resultsApply problem-solving techniques to identify and correct procedural errors, identify instrument malfunction and institute appropriate corrective measures under supervisionFollow laboratory procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting, and maintaining accurate and complete recordsParticipate in rotational On-Call duties during weekends and holidaysPromptly and courteously answer the phone and assist clients and coordinators with their inquiriesThe ideal candidate will possess:Excellent time management and organizational skillsHigh level of integrity and honesty in performing tests, documenting test results and maintaining patient, client, employee and laboratory business confidentialityExcellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively and work efficiently with people at all levels of the organizationExcellent verbal and written communication skillsAttention to detailAnalytical judgment, problem solving skills, and accuracy
