  • Description We are seeking a detail-oriented, detail oriented, and organized individual to join our team as a Medical Insurance Collector. In this role, you are principally responsible for contacting patients and insurance companies to secure payment for hospital-provided medical services. The ideal candidate should have prior experience in medical billing, healthcare administration, or a related field and should be familiar with medical terminology and coding. Responsibilities: Review patient accounts, ensuring that the correct procedures and codes are used for billing. Communicate with patients and insurance companies to explain charges, clarify billing procedures, and resolve discrepancies. Obtain insurance information from patients, cross-checking it with the hospital’s database for verification. Send notification to patients regarding outstanding payment, bill details, and follow-up dates. Negotiate payment plans or help patients establish suitable plans when necessary. Monitor insurance claims to ensure they are settled in a timely manner. Regularly follow up with insurance companies and patients regarding unresolved debts. Initiate collection processes and legal proceedings for unpaid debts. Keep updated and accurate records of the overall collection process. Ensure compliance with all state and federal regulations surrounding medical collections and debt recovery. Requirements High school diploma or GED is required. Higher education in related fields is preferred. Minimum of two years of experience in health insurance collections or a related role. Good understanding of medical terminology, ICD-10 and CPT codes, and hospital billing procedures. Proficient in using healthcare software systems and Microsoft Office suite. Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills. Strong organization and time management skills. Ability to work independently and in a team. Knowledge of state and federal collection laws and regulations. High level of professionalism and ethics when handling sensitive and confidential information
