Description The Parent Support Services Program Specialist (PSSPS) is an amazing opportunity to directly impact the lives of parents and families living in South Los Angeles and surrounding areas. This position will be responsible for the creation, implementation, and facilitation of our Parent Support Services Program (PSSP). As a member of the Parent Support Services Program team, the Program Specialist will collaborate with the Parent Support Services Program Coordinator and the Director of Programs to fully implement the PSSP program through essential program activities including, but not limited to, participant outreach, workshop facilitation, and case management. Core program responsibilities of this position are focused to planning, coordinating, and implementing projects and events for participating parents.The right candidate will be passionate about serving the community and assisting parents in building resiliency on their journey towards greater self-sufficiency. The best suited candidate will:

Work with the Director of Programs and PSSP Coordinator in the development, coordination and implementation of PSSP across all agency program areas.

Work collaboratively with the PSSP Coordinator to facilitate administrative functions to support program implementation.

Represent agency at meetings of professional organizations and community partners to inform, promote, and leverage services for families

Keep abreast of current trends within the field of human services, family supportive services, early care and education and related fields as well as the legislative issues and regulatory changes affecting families.

Requirements

Qualifications, Skills, Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, social work, special education or related field (i.e. Psychology, Human Development) from an accredited university. Relevant work experience in the above area may be substituted for college level education.

Minimum of two to three years' experience in human services, early childhood education, child development or related fields. Experience planning, implementing and coordinating major projects and activities needed

ability to work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders, including parents from diverse socio-economic backgrounds, community groups, and funders; ability to effectively communicate with adults in various settings and with varying learning styles
