The CommonSpirit Health Nurse Residency Program gives participants the unique opportunity to not only hone their critical thinking skills, but to use evidence-based practices, while ensuringhigh-quality, safe care is delivered to everyone ina compassionate environment.Depending on the specialty, the program length varies from 12 to 24 weeks and includes on-unit shifts shadowing trained preceptors, rotations with various units to learn how we all work together as one team, and hands-on classes taught by trained experts in their respective specialties. Must be available to attend all scheduled dates during the 12 weeks.

Attendance Requirements:

Attendance for the entire training and clinical rotations are mandatory and must have full availability for the entire 14 week training period. Some clinical rotations are scheduled for both day and night shifts. There is no cost to participants in the program, and participants will be compensated during the program.

The program consists of:

Classroom and on-line educational presentations.

Initial follow-up competency validation and development plans

Clinical rotation under the supervision of qualified preceptors

Ongoing meetings with the clinical educator, preceptor and others to assure progression and advancement on the continuum from novice to competent performance.

At the completion of the program, the participants will be able to:

Successfully handle adult patient assignments

Demonstrate a complete physical and psychosocial assessment on a patient

Take appropriate problem-solving actions when confronted with a clinical or administrative dilemma

Work cooperatively and effectively with physicians, family members and other members of the health-care team.

Our program is facilitated by nurse experts with special emphasis on: clinical skills, critical thinking skills, leadership abilities, communication skills, patient safety, and professional career development.

Valid unrestricted RN licensed issued by the state of California required by 7/5/2023. Must be active in good standing.

Additional Information:

Must be able to complete entire program with a perfect attendance record

Must be able to work 3 days per week after completing first 12 weeks

Must be able to work and train on either night or day shifts including holidays

Must agree to terms and conditions of the program

QualificationsProgram Requirements:

Graduated of a RN program within the last year.

No previous acute experience

Valid unrestricted RN licensed issued by the state of California (must have prior to start date 7/10/2023

Prior to Program Start Date:

BLS - Basic Life Support

ACLS – Advance Cardiovascular

Basic or Advanced Dysrhythmia Certification
