Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and creative Cook to join our small kitchen that specializes in providing small plates in a theater setting. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing, cooking, and presenting a diverse range of small dishes that delight our patrons. The role requires efficiency in a limited kitchen space while maintaining high-quality standards and adhering to the small plate concept.
Key Responsibilities
Food Preparation and Cooking:
Prepare and cook an array of small plates, according to established recipes and guidelines.
Ensure that all dishes are cooked and plated to the highest quality and presentation standards.
Menu Development:
Contribute to the creation and refinement of the menu by suggesting new dishes, flavor combinations, and seasonal offerings.
Collaborate with the team to design and implement delicious and attractive small plate options that appeal to our customers while keeping in mind the space of kitchen and days of operation that we are open.
Kitchen Organization and Efficiency:
Organize and manage a small kitchen space efficiently, optimizing workflow and minimizing waste.
Maintain cleanliness and orderliness in the kitchen area, following all sanitation and safety protocols.
Keeping the kitchen and the refrigerators clean and organized at all times.
Ingredient Management:
Oversee ingredient inventory, ordering, and restocking to ensure an uninterrupted supply of fresh and high-quality ingredients for operations.
Monitor ingredient quality and freshness, discarding any items that do not meet our standards.
Customer Satisfaction:
Work closely with manager and other related staff to ensure seamless communication and coordination, delivering orders accurately and timely.
Be receptive to customer feedback and use it to enhance the quality and variety of our small plates offerings.
Misc: We are a small operation and part of the job would consist of sweeping/mopping/vacuuming, cleaning bathrooms, stocking bathrooms, bussing tables/theater, taking out trash and dishwashing.
Qualifications:
Proven experience as a cook, preferably in a small kitchen.
Strong understanding of small plates, including familiarity with a variety of flavors.
Creativity and the ability to develop new and enticing small plate options that align with small plate concept.
Efficiency in managing a compact kitchen space, multitasking, and handling high-demand periods effectively.
Attention to detail and a focus on maintaining cleanliness and order in a small kitchen setting.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well within a small team.
