Job Title: Inventory Manager and Shopper

Schedule: Monday, Wednesday, Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Reports To: Operations Manager

We are a community-based food service company dedicated to serving nutritious meals to unhoused individuals in our community. Our mission is to provide dignity, care, and support through food, and we are looking for a dedicated Inventory Manager and Shopper to join our team.

Job Summary:

The Inventory Manager and Shopper will play a critical role in ensuring our kitchen has the necessary ingredients and supplies to prepare meals for our community. This position requires a highly organized, financially responsible, and physically capable individual who can manage inventory, shop at multiple stores, stay within budget, and maintain a well-organized storage system. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, a strong sense of responsibility, and a passion for serving others.

Key Responsibilities:

Inventory Management:

Maintain accurate inventory levels for dry storage, freezer, and refrigerated items.

Ensure all storage areas are clean, organized, and properly labeled.

Conduct regular inventory checks and communicate needs to the operations and kitchen staff.

Shopping and Budgeting:

Shop at multiple stores to source high-quality ingredients and supplies at the best prices.

Stay within the allocated budget while meeting the needs of the kitchen.

Compare pricing, seek discounts, and build relationships with vendors to maximize cost-effectiveness.

Physical Requirements:

Lift and carry items weighing 50+ lbs.

Stand, walk, and move frequently throughout the day.

Load and unload supplies from vehicles and storage areas.

Communication and Collaboration:

Work closely with the operations and kitchen teams to understand their needs and priorities.

Provide timely updates on inventory levels, pricing, and any issues encountered during shopping.

Maintain clear and professional communication with vendors, team members, and supervisors.

Organization and Time Management:

Ensure all shopping and inventory tasks are completed on time and efficiently.

Keep detailed records of purchases, inventory, and expenses.

Be punctual and reliable for all scheduled shifts.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or experience in inventory management, logistics, or a related field is a plus.

Proven ability to manage budgets and make financially responsible decisions.

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Ability to lift 50+ lbs. and perform physically demanding tasks.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license.

Passion for community service and supporting unhoused individuals.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working in a food service, retail, or inventory management role.

Knowledge of food safety and storage best practices.

Familiarity with local grocery stores, vendors, and pricing trends.
