About the Role:
We’re looking for a reliable, detail-oriented studio tech to help manage the flow of pottery through our community studio. This position supports day-to-day operations including processing class work, maintaining clean and organized workspaces, and keeping kiln and glaze cycles moving smoothly.
Main Duties:
Sort and clean pottery bottoms after firing
Label, photograph, and organize finished student pieces for pickup
Load and unload bisque and glaze kilns
Glaze large batches of student pottery and monitor glaze levels
Bag finished work and manage the pickup area
Keep track of firing schedules
General studio cleanup: wiping tables, mopping, organizing, cleaning restrooms and sinks
Assist with reclaim, mixing clay, and general materials upkeep
Misc Tasks (Production Related):
Support clay production and reclaim processes as needed
Knowledge of reclaim systems, trimming, throwing, and production workflow is highly valued
Experience with throwing/ raku/ gas or firing is a major plus. Ability to throw up to 5+lbs will help with growing role in the future.
Requirements:
Basic knowledge of ceramics and kiln operations
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work on your feet for long periods
Strong attention to detail and time management
Comfortable working independently in a fast-paced studio
Positive attitude and good communication with staff and members
