Machined Parts Inspector for Aerospace

Aerospace CNC machine shop seeks machined parts inspector for aerospace parts, full-time or part-time. That person must be able to handle different duties as they arise.

Position Summary:

Able to perform first article inspection of aerospace parts and assemblies on surface plate. Familiarity with PCDMIS CMM software a plus. Performs quality control inspections, checks and tests for precision aerospace parts and assemblies. Familiar with standard manufacturing concepts, practices and procedures. Comfortable reading mechanical drawings and comparing them to finished product. Mathematical ability as it pertains to manufacturing and QC is important.

1. Inspects incoming products and materials, including, raw materials and machined

parts to ensure conformance to specifications

2. Records inspection results in written and electronic format; prepares inspection

reports.

3. Rejects products, materials and equipment that does not meet specifications;

completes and distributes Non-Conformance documentation.

4. Reviews, analyzes and interprets engineering drawings, schematic diagrams, manuals

and other materials to determine specifications and inspection procedures; confers with

supervisor to enforce quality standards.

5. Inspects for a variety of qualities such as dimensions, performance and mechanical

characteristics.

6. Operates measuring equipment needed to perform the job (gauges, scales,

micrometers, calipers, etc.); keeps calibrated tools up to date.

7. Reconciles final inspection documentation for shipments.

8. Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

A. High school diploma or equivalent (GED)

B. 4 years minimum experience of mechanical inspection required

C. Successful completion of coursework in manufacturing inspection and quality control;

or a combination of education, training and experience sufficient to demonstrate the

ability to satisfactorily perform the essential functions of the job.

D. Ability to read blueprints, engineering drawings and sketches

E. Strong knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerance

F. Ability to work independently or as a member of a team.

Knowledge of:

Engineering terminology and technical drawings; basic manufacturing operations and

procedures; basic machining, welding and assembly; office practices and procedures;

telephone etiquette; English grammar.

Ability to apply mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and

proportions to practical situations. Ability to use MS Excel to perform calculations and

interpret project results/data.
