Looking to spread some extra love and joy this holiday season? Ace of Hearts Dog Rescue is seeking passionate fosters to provide temporary or long-term homes for our rescue dogs. By fostering, you’ll not only save a dog from a high-kill shelter but also be part of their journey toward finding a forever family.
Fostering is an incredibly rewarding experience, and we’ll provide all the supplies, food, and medical care your foster dog needs. Plus, we offer a stipend to cover gas for medical appointments and adoption events. Whether you’re in it for the long haul or just have a couple of weeks to spare this holiday season, we’d love to have you join our team!
What You Need to Know Before Signing Up:
Please read thoroughly to ensure fostering is the right fit for you:
- Must be 21 years or older.
- No children under the age of 8 in the home.
- No small dogs or cats in the home (larger dogs are okay).
- Comfortable with larger dogs (50-90 lbs on average).
- Must be okay fostering shelter dogs with unknown backgrounds.
- Adoption events are mandatory: Attend every other Saturday at the Petco in West Hollywood (this is also when supplies and stipends are provided).
- Approval from all roommates, family members, landlords, etc., is required before fostering.
Why Fostering Matters:
Every day, countless dogs face euthanasia simply because shelters are overcrowded. By fostering, you give these dogs a safe and loving environment to decompress and heal. While some may come with quirks—like needing potty training or extra patience—you’ll see firsthand how love and care can transform a scared shelter dog into a happy, confident companion.
This holiday season, you can be their miracle!
Meet Some Dogs Looking for Fosters Now:
Axel
- Meet Axel, a 4-year-old Labrador/Aussie Shepherd mix with endless energy and a big heart.
- At 100 lbs, he’s a strong and active boy who loves hiking, running, and playing with other dogs.
- Axel thrives in quiet, adult-only homes where his people can give him plenty of attention and guidance.
- While he’s great with dogs of all sizes, busy streets and loud environments can make him uneasy. He’s working on his confidence, and a foster who understands his needs will help him shine.
- Axel is house-trained and healthy, and he’s ready for a foster who can keep up with his zest for life!
Ringo
- Meet Ringo, a friendly and goofy boxer mix who loves to make people smile.
- Full of energy and always ready to play, he’s great with people and enjoys making new friends.
- While Ringo does well with other dogs at the park and is good on leash, he can get jealous when sharing a home with other dogs and is possessive of his food. He might be best suited as the only dog in the home.
- House-trained and well-behaved, Ringo is a foster and volunteer favorite. Everyone who meets him can’t help but fall in love.
- Ringo needs a temporary foster from 12/23 to 1/14 while his long-term foster is away for the holidays.
Heath
- Say hello to Heath, a sweet and gentle Cane Corso mix who was recently rescued from a high-kill shelter.
- Found as a stray, Heath has already charmed everyone he’s met with his kind nature.
- While we’re still learning about him, his current foster says he’s great on leash, easy to walk, and enjoys sunset hikes.
- Heath is underweight and in need of some TLC, but he’s ready to thrive in a loving foster home.
- We don’t yet know how Heath does with other dogs, but his soft demeanor suggests he’ll adjust well.
- Heath’s current foster can only keep him until 12/23, so we urgently need a new foster to give this sweet boy a safe and warm place to stay.
Why Foster During the Holidays?
There’s no better way to spread holiday cheer than by giving a rescue dog a warm and loving place to call home. Whether you’re curled up watching holiday movies or taking a winter walk, fostering is a wonderful way to share the joy of the season.
