The Sonoma County Fairgrounds seeks an experienced and energetic team leader to become their Fairgrounds Buildings and Grounds Superintendent!

Starting salary up to $53.01/hour ($110,638/year), a cash allowance of $600/month, and a competitive total compensation package!

As a member of senior management, the Fairgrounds Buildings and Grounds Superintendent is responsible for the oversight of maintenance, repairs, and upkeep of all the grounds, buildings, and property of the Sonoma County Fairgrounds. This position also oversees 15 facility maintenance staff who are involved with construction projects, repairs, and general maintenance. Additional responsibilities of this position include:Assessing facility needs and scheduling staff and resources

Preparing and reviewing proposals to monitor supply needs of Fairgrounds

Managing all set-up, daily maintenance, and tear down of the events, in addition to preparation of the budget, during the annual County fair and other major events

Coordinating with vendors and internal services to ensure telecommunications systems are functioning properly (IT, wireless, and telephony systems at the Fairground facilities)The next Fairgrounds Buildings & Grounds Superintendent will bring a solid understanding of large facility maintenance requirements in order to address the various issues that arise on a daily basis that range from electrical, plumbing, irrigation, janitorial, etc. in nature. The ideal candidate will have experience managing facility maintenance operations for a campus environment, which could include a fairgrounds or multi-building environment with major parking facilities. The ideal candidate will also possess:Experience training a team on safety procedures and maintaining safety records

Strong communication skills as well as the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a professional and customer service-focused attitude

Demonstrated ability to be a team leader who creates a positive team environment

Excellent time management skills that utilizes down time to assess maintenance needs and schedule preventative maintenance

A comfort level working around large crowds and livestock, possibly assisting in moving livestock

Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, as well as project scheduling and/or risk management software

Bilingual skills are desired, but not requiredThis position is required to work evenings when the Full Fair Board and the Buildings and Grounds Board convene. Other evening and weekend work is required during the Sonoma County Fair, Harvest Fair, and large Interim Events.
