Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA)

Education and Experience:
- California PTA State License required
Job duties include:
Instructs, motivates, safeguards, and treat patients following their STG's and LTG's. Document daily treatments,
progress and barriers to reaching goals. Reports to Physical Therapist in person and through progress notes.
One year experience in a long term care setting preferred; new graduates considered.
Passionate about post-acute rehab and the older adult population.
Ability to relate and interact positively, effectively and appropriately with residents, family, professional staff and
facility staff.
Excellent communication skills and computer literate.
Must be able to lift a minimum of 20 pounds, use step stools, reach for objects, stand and walk for periods of time
greater than 20 minutes.
Successfully pass physical exam, drug screening and background check.
-Confers with therapy staff and others to discuss patient progress for planning, modifying, and coordinating treatment.
- Communicates with and instructs caregivers and family members on patient therapeutic activities and treatment plans.
- Transports patients to and from treatment areas, lifting and transferring them according to positioning requirements.
- Secures patients into or onto therapy equipment.
- Administers active and passive manual therapeutic exercises, therapeutic massage, and heat, light, sound, and electrical modality treatments such as ultrasound.
- Measures patients range-of-joint motion, body parts, and vital signs to determine effects of treatments or for patient evaluations.
- Monitors operation of equipment and records use of equipment and administration of treatment.
