We build highly reliable and scalable services and developer-friendly infrastructure that enable engineering teams across the company to create and integrate secure features and proactively protect our members’ data.The Identity Development (IDD) team builds the identity services and developer tools that help keep LinkedIn’s people, systems, and data secure. We make secure identity and access capabilities usable across LinkedIn’s engineering ecosystem—from single sign-on and authentication tooling to host access and directory services.Our work includes services and libraries that support SSO, certificate-based host access, and identity and directory lookups. These capabilities serve internal engineering teams and operate at LinkedIn scale, where reliability, security, and a thoughtful developer experience are essential. You’ll join a collaborative team working across security, infrastructure, and product engineering to make secure access the straightforward path.Role overviewAs a Senior Software Engineer, you will design, build, and operate identity platforms and tools used by engineering teams across LinkedIn. You’ll take ownership of significant projects from problem definition through production, make sound technical decisions, and partner with teams across the company to deliver secure, reliable, and intuitive solutions. You’ll also help raise the technical bar through design and code reviews, operational excellence, and mentorship.ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, and operate scalable identity and access services, libraries, and developer tools.Lead technical projects end to end: clarify requirements, evaluate trade-offs, produce designs, deliver implementation, and measure results.Build secure authentication and authorization experiences, including capabilities such as SSO, identity lifecycle integrations, certificate-based access, or directory services.Develop reliable distributed systems and APIs that meet demanding availability, performance, and security requirements.Partner with infrastructure, security, and product engineering teams to understand integration needs and deliver solutions that are easy to adopt.Apply security and privacy principles throughout the software lifecycle, including threat-aware design, least privilege, and secure handling of credentials and identity data.Improve service health through monitoring, testing, incident response, and operational practices; participate in the team’s on-call rotation as needed.Contribute to technical direction through design reviews, code reviews, and clear engineering documentation.Mentor engineers and share practices that improve code quality, team effectiveness, and developer experience.
