This role is responsible for managing all aspects of income and property tax accounting, compliance, and controversy and for supporting the Tax Director with other taxes and projects.Work location: Required to work in the Napa office 2 days per week (Tue-Wed)Key ResponsibilitiesThe key areas of responsibilities are:
Income Tax Provision
Income & Other Direct Tax Returns
Transfer Pricing and other Related Party reporting
Property tax
Income Tax Provision:
Prepare the US and Canada semi-annual Income Tax Provisions under International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) for review by the Americas Tax Director and subsequent reporting to Treasury Wine Estates Limited.
Income tax provision responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Review tax depreciation calculations and fixed asset reconciliations
Prepare tax amortization calculations and intangible asset reconciliations
Prepare or review section 263A calculations: Unicap and Capitalized Interest
Prepare or review Research and Development study calculations
Research and determine income tax positions for international transactions, including BEAT (base erosion anti-abuse tax) treatment and reporting.
Prepare tax provision journal entries, disclosures, and flux analysis
Calculate projected taxable income and prepare tax attribute utilization forecast
Calculate projected cash tax payments
Prepare quarterly balance sheet reconciliations with variance analysis
Provide external auditors with all required information and responses to queries
Income & Other Direct Tax Returns
Perform annual review of tax depreciation setup in JDE for the Federal, Federal AMT, California, and California AMT tax fixed asset registers
Prepare Form 4562 (depreciation) and Form 4797 (disposals) fixed asset workpapers required for income tax reporting (Separate versions required for Federal, California, and California AMT)
Provide information for and review International Forms 5472
Prepare foreign tax credit calculations
Prepare state apportionment
Review nexus in states in which Treasury Wine Estates Americas currently claims protection under PL 86-272
Review state income tax calculations and tax returns
Calculate estimated quarterly income tax due for all Federal and State jurisdictions and manage the payment process
Review extension calculations prepared by co-source provider and manage all extension filings and payments
Manage all aspects of US and Canada income and treaty-based return filings, including coordination with TWE’s co-source provider who prepares the forms.
Income tax return responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Prepare annual US Withholding Tax Returns, Forms 1042 and all related balance sheet reconciliations. Manage all payments for US income tax withholding.
Transfer Pricing and other Related Party reporting:
Manage all US transfer pricing responsibilities, including semi-annual calculations, journal entries, and preparation of appropriate contemporaneous documentation reports between all related parties.
Collaborate with the Global Tax Team on transfer pricing methodology changes and implementation.
Collaborate with the offshore RTR team on changes to transfer pricing process, including providing updated training and documentation.
Support the Americas Tax Director Global Tax team in developing and implementing processes for compliance with OECD Pillar 2.
Coordinate and prepare other foreign corporation filings as required for submission to Global Tax in relation to compliance for other countries including Australia.
Property Tax
Manage the annual Business Property Tax filings with Deloitte for all California locations, including compiling and reconciling fixed asset data on a calendar year basis.
Review property tax bills due in March, August, and November, prepare summary of tax by parcel and business unit, and manage payment approval and submission.
Review and verify the accuracy of supplemental property tax bills and process payment.
Prepare forecast of property tax by business unit for Finance budgeting. Compare actual to budget, investigate significant variances, and provide explanation where applicable.
Manage all recurring 4-year audits by California counties.
Advise business partners on property tax impacts of transactions.
Identify and pursue property tax savings opportunities.
About YouYou have a Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance. You have 5 or more years of experience in income tax compliance, income tax provision and financial statement reporting. You are highly organized, accurate and able to meet tight deadlines. You are systems savvy and have developed advanced Microsoft Excel skills. You are curious, inquisitive, and collaborative with the ability to partner with multiple business partners. This is a great opportunity for candidates from Public Accounting with income tax compliance and provision experience who are looking to move to a corporate tax role.Other experience:
Strong understanding of financial reporting for income tax under either GAAP or IFRS.
Strong understanding of federal and state income tax regulations.
Ability to work independently while managing multiple tasks.
Well-developed analytical and critical thinking skills.
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
Motivation to develop and improve business processes.
Ability to build strong and effective working relationships with individuals at all levels, both within the organization and externally.
Experience working directly with tax authorities to manage inquiries and audits.
Experience with manufacturing companies (including cost accounting, UNICAP and capitalized interest), international tax, and/or property tax a plus.
CPA or EA license a plus

Our expectation is that the incumbent will work out of the Napa, CA area. If the incumbent works out of another location, the wage rate may fall above or below this range.
