Visit dignityhealth.org/northridgehospital for more information.Department Support Assistant- Community & School Health InitiativesNorthridge Hospital Medical CenterWe are seeking a dedicated Survivor Advocate to join our team and support survivors of human rights abuses for the "Mission Ministry Funds United Against Violence SoCal Anti-Violence Educations and Survivor Advocate Planning Grant." The Survivor Advocate will play a crucial role in providing advocacy, support, and resources to individuals who have experienced human rights violations, including but not limited to trafficking, violence, discrimination, and exploitation. This role will require a compassionate and empathetic individual who is committed to upholding the rights and dignity of survivors. This position must maintain a high level of confidentiality, and candidates will possess a high degree of flexibility, maturity, empathy, compassion, and the ability to work independently, as well as work well on teams.Responsibilities
Provide trauma-informed support to survivors through individual counseling and support group sessions.
Participate in NHMC and GMHHC team meetings and coalition meetings.
Interact with the community at large.
Develop relationships, and act as a liaison with agencies and other community resources that can serve as linkages and referral sources for hospitals and the developing violence prevention coalitions in the hospital service areas.
Maintain accurate and confidential records of interactions with survivors.
Contribute to the development of programs and initiatives aimed at preventing human rights violations.
Qualifications
Experience in working with victim/survivor populations and/or providing community member-centered services.
Bilingual in Spanish/English preferred.
High School graduate or GED equivalent required.
BSW or BA in social work or related field preferred.
LA City Fire Safety card required. (obtain 90 days from start date)
