SUMMARY:
Our Client is looking for an Accounting Manager to join their growing Finance Team. In this newly created role, you will be responsible for managing the finance team and all related responsibilities to ensure timeliness, completeness, and accuracy of accounting records in accordance with IFRS in a high-growth environment, as well as the financial reporting for individual entities and the consolidated reporting of the parent public company. You will be able to scale and make process improvements while maintaining compliance with internal controls.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ensures the timely reporting of all monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial information and reports, including the preparation and/or review of the consolidated financial statements.
Assist with the preparation of regulatory reporting. Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements.
Works with external tax experts to assist with the completion of tax filings.
Manages the monthly, quarterly and year-end accounting close cycles and analyzes financial results to present to management.
Assists FP&A team with internal budget process and accurate monitoring of budgets during the year.
Maintains accrual entries for expenses related to accounts payable, fixed assets, prepaid expenses, and miscellaneous assets and liabilities.
Reviews business with a critical and analytical approach focused on improving overall performance of the companies under our ownership and management.
Assists in the development and implementation of new department processes, policies and procedures, which may enhance the workflow of the department and/or internal controls.
Assists with the coordination of quarterly reviews and annual audit.
Works with each direct report to establish goals and objectives for each year and monitors, evaluates and advises on the progress to enhance the professional development of staff.
Hire, train, coach, and communicate with department staff to meet and exceed performance expectations.
Avoids legal challenges by understanding current and proposed legislation, enforcing accounting regulations, and recommending new procedures.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Work Context:
Physical Requirements
- May require prolonged sitting or standing and some bending, stooping and stretching.
- Eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity enough to operate a telephone, calculator, computer, and other office equipment.
- Moving up to 20 pounds on occasion.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
5-7 years of accounting experience, including 3 years publicly traded company environment with audit and supervisory experience is required.
Knowledge of retail industry, cultivation and cannabis industry is preferred but not required.
Thoroughly knowledge of monthly, quarterly and year-end close processes and ability to schedule timely close.
Significant experience with allocations of shared costs.
Familiar with payroll procedures and taxes.
Experience with POS systems Treez a plus but not required.
Thorough knowledge of schedules and working papers required for the annual financial audit in accordance with IFRS.
High level of technical accounting expertise (e.g. understanding of IFRS 16, 15, 3, 2).
