Hatch is seeking a highly motivatedElectrical Engineerto join ourHydropower and DamsBusiness Unit in Oakland, CA to provide technical leadership, client engagement and business development with key clients. The candidate will have design experience of auxiliary electrical equipment and systems at hydroelectric generating stations, substations, and dams. Electrical equipment and systems will include low/medium/high voltage switchgear, transformers, motors and motor control centers, diesel generators, lighting, cables and cable raceway systems, and grounding. This position can be based in Seattle, Denver, Minneapolis, Amherst (New York), Pittsburgh or Boston. Consideration will be given to the selected candidate’s preference.Salary range: $90,000 - $160,000As the successful candidate, you will:
Working in a fast-paced, dynamic team with other engineers in a multidisciplinary environment
Performing design calculations and documenting findings and recommendations in a report
Preparing specifications for the procurement of a variety of electrical equipment for hydroelectric generating stations, substations, and dams
Preparing single line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, cable schedules, and equipment layouts
Preparing equipment operating manuals, test procedures, and training materials
Willing to travel to remote sites for short periods (A few days up to 2 weeks) to participate in meetings, conduct inspections, and participate in project commissioning, and testing
You bring to the role:
A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized and accredited institution
A minimum of five years of professional experience, including relevant experience in the following:
Design of electrical equipment within hydroelectric generating stations
Substations and dams, including low/medium/high voltage switchgear
Transformers, motors and motor control centers
Diesel generators, lighting, cables and cable raceway systems, grounding, etc.
Working knowledge of process controls and instrumentation will be considered an asset
Working knowledge of generators, exciters, and governors will be considered an asset
Experience with load flow, short-circuit, and arc flash modelling software
Proficiency with other Computer Design Tools (Mathcad, AutoCAD) will be considered an asset
Knowledge of USA and international codes and standards
Solid experience in the preparation of reports and specifications
Strong written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal and relationship management skills
Strong client focus and a desire to achieve results including the ability to manage multiple priorities and timelines
Registration (or eligibility for registration) as a Professional Engineer
Site and commissioning experience will be considered an asset.
