Description Respected organization is seeking an experienced Legal Secretary in Oakland, California. This role falls within the industry of law and legal services. As a Legal Secretary, you will be an integral part of our team, assisting in the smooth operation of our legal processes and procedures. This person will also be managing others in addition to performing administrative/secretarial duties. Responsibilities: Draft, revise, and finalize legal documents and correspondence. Maintain an organized and up-to-date filing system for all legal documents. Coordinate and schedule meetings, court dates, and other appointments for attorneys. Communicate with clients, attorneys, and court personnel, providing updates and information as needed. Utilize legal software and databases to conduct research and manage case files. Prepare and organize materials for court hearings or client meetings. Ensure all legal documents and correspondence are error-free and properly formatted. Utilize Civil Litigation Experience to handle litigation-related tasks efficiently. Maintain confidentiality of all sensitive legal information. Provide general administrative support to attorneys, including answering phones and emails, making travel arrangements, and managing attorney calendars.Requirements Possess a high school diploma or equivalent qualification. Have relevant experience as a Legal Secretary, preferably within a Civil Litigation setting. Demonstrate proficiency in using legal software and Microsoft Office Suite. Exhibit strong written and verbal communication skills. Be capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines effectively. Show an understanding of legal terminology and court system. Have excellent organizational and time-management skills. Demonstrate a high level of confidentiality and discretion due to the sensitive nature of the information handled. Be able to prepare and process legal documents and papers, such as summonses, subpoenas, complaints, appeals, motions, and pretrial agreements. Have the ability to schedule appointments, meetings, and court dates, and maintain attorneys' calendars. Possess superior typing skills, being able to type at least 50 words per minute. Show proficiency in transcription of dictations. Be able to maintain law library. Have the ability to coordinate law office activities such as subpoena delivery. Be able to liaise with clients and legal professionals. Have the capacity to organize case files and maintain document control. Be capable of performing any other administrative duties as required to support the legal team.
