We are hiring a full-time sushi chef for our Sushi restaurant in Newport Beach, needed for 5 Days a week, salaried (negotiable based on experience) plus tip (includes sushi bar tip and % of sushi sales).
We aim to provide a positive and comfortable working environment for all our staff, and are looking for an experienced and engaging Sushi Chef to join our diverse and friendly team.
Duties and Responsibilities will include: (not limited to)
- Prepare and create a variety of sushi dishes according to recipes and customer preferences
- Ensure the quality and freshness of ingredients used in sushi preparation
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, following all food safety and sanitation guidelines
- Collaborate with kitchen and serving staff to coordinate the timing of sushi orders with other menu items
- Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering supplies as needed
- Stay updated on current food trends and incorporate new techniques and ingredients into sushi creations
- Provide excellent customer service by interacting with guests at Sushi Bar and addressing any questions or concerns
Skills
- Strong culinary skills, with a focus on sushi preparation techniques
- Knowledge of different types of fish, seafood, and other ingredients used in sushi dishes
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Excellent knife skills for precise cutting and slicing of ingredients
- Experience in menu planning and creating new sushi roll combinations
- Understanding of food production processes, including proper food handling and storage procedures
- Ability to work well as part of a team and communicate effectively with team members and customers
