Job Overview: We are looking for an experienced and skilled IT Support Engineer II/III to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in managing and supporting Windows-based networks, experience with network hardware, security management, and cloud-based services. This role offers a unique opportunity for growth into a cybersecurity-focused position, ideal for a seasoned professional ready to expand their expertise in both IT infrastructure and cybersecurity within an MSP/MSSP environment.
This role is predominantly remote; however, some travel within Orange County will be required to support on-site client needs and hardware management tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
· Network Administration: Lead the management and maintenance of Windows-based networks for multiple clients, ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and security. Oversee network performance monitoring, advanced troubleshooting, and implementation of necessary upgrades and improvements in line with MSP best practices.
· Hardware Management: Configure, deploy, and manage network hardware such as firewalls, switches, and routers across client environments. Experience with specific technologies like SonicWall firewalls and Cisco Meraki switches is a plus, but the ability to manage diverse network setups is essential.
· Cloud Service Management: Manage cloud-based services for various clients, including user management and application configuration. Provide support for related issues and ensure optimal operation and security, adhering to MSSP standards.
· Advanced Technical Support: Act as a point of escalation for complex technical issues related to network, hardware, software, and cloud services. Work closely with junior and mid-level support staff to resolve high-level issues and mentor team members in an MSP/MSSP environment.
· System Monitoring and Proactive Maintenance: Lead proactive monitoring of network and server systems across client sites, identifying potential issues and developing strategies to mitigate risks. Implement and maintain monitoring solutions in line with MSSP security practices.
· Documentation and Best Practices: Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation of network configurations, system settings, and troubleshooting procedures. Establish best practices for IT support and security within the team.
· Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with other IT and cybersecurity team members, departments, and external vendors to ensure seamless integration and operation of all client IT systems.
· Growth Opportunity in Cybersecurity: Assist in implementing and maintaining cybersecurity measures, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and endpoint security solutions for our clients. Actively participate in cybersecurity client meetings, training and certification programs to enhance skills and prepare for a potential transition into a more specialized cybersecurity-focused role.
Qualifications:
· Proven experience as an IT Support Engineer II/III or similar role.
· Experience with network hardware management, including configuring and maintaining firewalls, switches, and routers. Familiarity with SonicWall firewalls and Cisco Meraki switches is a plus.
· Solid understanding of network protocols, IP addressing, routing, VPNs, and network security principles.
· Familiarity with Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, remote access solutions, and cloud-based services.
· Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to manage complex projects and tasks efficiently.
· Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
· Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA Network+, CCNA, MCSA, Microsoft 365 Certified, CISSP) are highly desirable.
· A strong interest in cybersecurity and a desire to grow into a cybersecurity-focused role.
· Reliable transportation and the ability to travel within Orange County as needed.
