Property Accountant

Description We are seeking a Property Accountant to join our team in Palo Alto, California. In this role, you will be instrumental in managing and analyzing monetary resources and affairs within our organization. You will be expected to establish financial status by developing and implementing systems for collecting, analyzing, and reporting financial information. Responsibilities: Handle accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) processes to ensure accurate and timely management of all billing processes. Conduct regular bank reconciliations, verifying and reconciling transactions. Implement and enforce property accounting practices, maintaining accurate records and compliance with legislation. Interface with tenants and on-site property managers, providing excellent customer service and resolving any issues or inquiries. Collaborate with the CEO to build out the accounting/finance group, contributing to the growth and scale of the company. Utilize property accounting software, Yardi, to streamline financial reporting and improve financial transparency. Oversee the financial health and performance of the company's real estate assets, providing detailed reports and findings to management. Work directly with the CEO to create the role and contribute to the overall direction and strategy of the accounting/finance group. Leverage strong communication skills to present financial information and complex financial concepts to non-finance staff. Bring a minimum of 3 years of AP experience to the role, contributing to the development and optimization of AP systems and processes. Requirements Possess a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field Proven experience in property accounting or a similar role Proficiency in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) Demonstrated ability in performing bank reconciliations Strong understanding and experience in property accounting Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Strong organizational and time management skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team High level of accuracy and attention to detail Proficient in the use of accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Familiarity with real estate and property industry standards and regulations Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
