Provide clinical expertise in the area of Speech Pathology for members with Autism Spectrum Disorders and/or developmental disabilities. Provide utilization management of their care and is responsible for the coordination of outside vendor therapy services and in plan care. This position does not provide direct patient care.Essential Functions:- Review clinical progress notes prepared by outside clinical vendors and sets goals in conjunction with outside vendors based upon appropriate professional experience and licensure, for the ASD and developmental delayed population.- Make clinical determination regarding appropriateness of therapeutic goals and need for ongoing therapeutic intervention by outside vendors, for the ASD and developmental delayed population.- Serve as a resource and liaison between the member and the outside vendors once initial services have been authorized at the local level, for the ASD and developmental delayed population.- Serve as a resource and liaison between the outside vendors who are providing direct patient care for the member and KP once initial services have been authorized at the local level, for the ASD and developmental delayed population.- Serve as a resource and liaison for the medical center departments they are supporting, for the ASD and developmental delayed population.- Participate in the development and maintenance of the appropriate data bases necessary to monitor and track the outside vendored therapy services, for the ASD and developmental delayed population.- Document as appropriate and necessary in the medical record/Health Connect, for the ASD and developmental delayed population.- Regional coordination of the therapists (Speech, Occupational Therapy and Physical therapy) in the dissemination of updates and facilitating exchange of information etc, for the ASD and developmental delayed population.- Communicate and maintain professional relationships with other integrated departments (e.g. Outside Referrals, Regional Utilization Management, Affiliated Provider Services etc) Maintain contact with the ASD teams in the local areas.Basic Qualifications:Experience- Minimum six (6) years of working as a fully licensed Speech/Language Pathologist, with a minimum three (3) years of working with the Pediatric population.Education- Master's degree or Ph.D. in speech language pathology from an accredited program.License, Certification, Registration- Must fully meet the requirement for state licensing and eligible for membership in American Speech language and hearing association.- Basic Cardiac Life Support.- National Provider Identifier (NPI) required as of May 23, 2007.- Current State of California Speech Pathologist license required. Additional Requirements:- Knowledge of federal, state and local regulatory requirements.- Ability to demonstrate knowledge and to utilize theories, principles, practices, techniques and methods of Speech Therapy.- Ability to make a determination for age and ability clinical goals.- Strong background in Pediatrics.- Understanding of pediatric assessment, intervention and goal writing.- Problem solver.- Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.
