With a growing list of primary and specialty care clinics along with our Dignity Health/GoHealth Urgent Care Centers local affiliated Dignity Health hospital (Sequoia Hospital) and other City of San Francisco locations (via Dignity Health Medical Group – Saint Francis/St. Mary’s and Saint Francis Memorial Hospital and St. Mary’s Medical Center) we offer an integrated care delivery system that provides primary care for family medicine and internal medicine surgical services that include general vascular gynecological cardiothoracic and orthopedics and a growing list of neurologist cardiologists endocrinologists infectious disease and sports medicine specialists.ResponsibilitiesPlease note: This is a non-benefitted, temporary position, likely lasting approximately 3-6 months.The Echo Technician/Cardiac Sonographer will be responsible for performing cardiac diagnostic procedures, including echos, stress tests, and vascular, on a variety of patient populations in our outpatient Cardiology clinic. This position provides good work/life balance (Monday-Friday, no weekends, holidays, evenings or on-call!), as well as works with a supportive leadership and physician team, who provide clear expectations, structure and direction while allowing for autonomy.Position Summary:As a Cardiac Sonographer/Echo Tech with the Dignity Health Medical Foundation, now part of CommonSpirit Health, you will perform cardiac diagnostic procedures, including echos, stress tests, and vascular, on a variety of patient populations including adult, and geriatric patients in our outpatient Cardiology clinic.Your success in this role comes from your enthusiasm to help others and desire to have a positive impact on the lives of our patients and their families as you play a huge role in the patient experience.Success in this role means you:
Are responsible for the performance of complex cardiac diagnostic procedures
Explain procedure before beginning each study, patient prep, calibrating equipment, and entering patient data with an exceptional accuracy rate
Prioritize studies by patient status and age of order within your scheduled shift
Prepare test results for physicians' interpretation providing all pertinent patient data, and accurately recording measurements
Copy and disperses study to appropriate areas
Initiate an appropriate charge for patient account by the end of your shift
Maintain proper care of equipment, including cleaning and re-stocking, so that no more than 1 to 2 outages of supplies are noted per month
Notify clinic leadership of any equipment failures immediately to ensure timely repair with limited downtime
Assist with procedures and various duties of EKG technician between scheduled tests
QualificationsMinimum Qualifications:
Completion of an Echo Technician program required
Special Skills:
Substantial knowledge of:
EKG procedures and equipment.
Basic cardiac and human body anatomy.
Basic interpretation of cardiac arrhythmias.
Cardiopulmonary resuscitation
General filing procedures
Electrical safety standards
Aseptic techniques
Typing and office skills
Proper phone techniques
Ability to:
Perform a quality echocardiographic study of the heart including 2D color flow mapping and TEE procedures of all patient age groups
Perform stress echocardiographic procedures on adult and geriatric patients with and without contrast
Work with computer billing system
Establish and maintain a good working relationship with a wide variety of Hospital personnel
Act courteously and with tact in dealing with patients visitors and the public
Explain procedures to patients
Maintain patient confidentiality
Follow established procedures
Work effectively under stress and adjust priorities as circumstances require
Organize work assignments maintaining accurate and complete records
Maintain a high degree of accuracy regarding all details
Calm and reassure distressed patients
Work with minimal supervision
Respond effectively in emergency situations
Read and comprehend technical instructions
Effective oral and written communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
One (1) year experience as Echo/ Stress Tech preferred
Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer is strongly preferred
Experience with Philips IE33 and Epiq Ultrasound Machines helpful
