The Tax Analyst prepares trust tax returns, evaluates and adjusts accounting data to meet tax requirements and deals with less complex correspondence with regulatory bodies. Working under general supervision, this job completes split interest trust returns (5227), trust returns (1041), information returns, withholding forms and other tax compliance forms for lead trusts and charitable gift annuities. This job provides clear and well-organized documentation including detailed calculations and analysis, and prepares and maintains procedural and technical documentation.Key Responsibilities and Duties
Prepares tax reporting in a timely fashion and in accordance to tax code and laws and the organization's tax preparation policies and practices.
Reviews data from trust accounting platform for errors and omissions.
Assists in tax setup processes for new clients and new trusts, including entering prior trustee transactions.
Assists with business requirements, testing plans and scripts for tax software changes and participates in testing to compare actual with expected results.
Calculates and monitors estimated tax payments and foreign and state withholding and manages the electronic filing process.
Reviews and adjusts bond purchases and sales, bond amortization and accretion, promissory notes, and real estate sales to adjust transactions for tax reporting.
