This Senior Specialist position is in the Valuation and Portfolio Analytics team within SCE’s Energy Procurement and Management organizational unit. In this role, you will support SCE’s mission of providing reliable, affordable, and clean energy by providing analytic, strategic and logistical support for SCE’s structured solicitations for power products, presenting solicitation results to management, and performing quantitative research and analysis in service of SCE’s energy contact valuation activities. You will be responsible for leading and contributing to solicitations of varying scopes and complexities. You will also provide regulatory support in the form of preparing testimony and responses to data requests to ensure cost recovery for SCE’s energy procurement activities.Typical duties include:
Supporting the valuation and selection process of procurements for renewable, energy storage, and other resource types by coordinating with SCE’s Contract Origination, Law, and Finance groups to ensure the valuation team has all the relevant information to make sound procurement decisions
Communicating and reaching consensus with our commercial counterparts, EPM Management and Senior Leadership for SCE’s valuation methodologies and selection results through the development of presentations and/or targeted quantitative analysis, including white papers
Supporting SCE's regulatory filings for contract approval by describing the methodologies used for contract valuation and the financial drivers behind the results
Contributing to feedback given to SCE's regulators, such as the California Public Utilities Commission, to help shape future renewable and reliability procurements and programs
Leading the valuation activities for SCE’s programmatic solicitations such as the Green Access Program and distribution deferral
Developing, analysis supporting SCE’s least-cost-best-fit portfolio selection
Leading commercial process improvement activities and other continuous improvement projects
Performing valuations on energy contracts of all technology types, including new and novel projects and contractual considerations
Performing ad hoc portfolio optimization and/or resource optimization analysis

Executes analytical support for projects and initiatives that help shape SCE's strategy, as well as long-term resource and climate adaptation plans
Facilitates horizon planning capabilities through scenario development in the face of uncertainty driven by exogenous market factors, like climate change and emerging technologies
Executes the use of analytical models and grid planning simulation tools, forecasting the impacts of various resource portfolio scenarios on system pricing, GHG emissions, and other system dimensions
Conducts research on new technologies, focusing on their cost-effectiveness and potential for supply and demand-side energy resources
Develops analytical models and methods for a variety of applications, including evaluating energy policies, regulations, climate change impacts, and new business models
Drives the analysis of market trends in the energy and ancillary services markets
Manages contract requirements, review payments, manage disputes and make strategic recommendations to maximize benefits to customers
Deploys and improves statistical and econometric models to forecast electricity demand and energy commodity prices to support position management and hedging

Minimum Qualifications
Three or more years of experience in financial planning, modeling and/or forecasting.
The preferred
Bachelor’s Degree or advanced degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or a related Quantitative or Technical field of study
Three or more years of application of technical and communication skills within in a financial, procurement, regulatory or legal corporate environment
Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint to prepare reports and present complex technical information to a wide audience, in non-technical language
Three or more years of hands-on experience valuing energy and energy-related products, commodity forecasting and/or energy portfolio optimization
Experience building Microsoft Excel based tools
Hands on experience with providing financial and/or quantitative analysis on energy or capacity related products
Experience working in a remote/hybrid work environment with Microsoft Teams
An understanding of California energy markets and its regulatory environment
Ability to integrate work across relevant areas, develop the business processes and services to enhance customer satisfaction and productivity, manage risks and safety appropriately, develop and execute business plans, manage information, and provide exceptional service to internal and external customers
Effective resource and project planning, decision making, results delivery, team building, and the ability to stay current with relevant technology and innovation
Strong ethics, influence and negotiation, leadership, interpersonal skills, communication, and the ability to effectively manage stress and engage in continuous learning
Ability to implement, maintain and support a safety conscious work environment by following Edison safety protocols and safe work practices
You should know
This position’s work mode is hybrid . The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.
