This opportunity is ideal for individuals with relevant specialist qualifications or experience in, engineering or technology, wishing to leverage and apply their specialist technical skills in a new way. This role will suit experienced and enthusiastic engineers/technologists who are driven to learn about new technologies and industry trends, widen their technical knowledge and have broader client and commercial exposure.The successful candidate will get the opportunity to work as part of a growing and dynamic specialist practice with a diverse team of highly successful tax and science/engineering/technology specialists.Your key responsibilitiesAs an Engineering Manager, you will discuss new innovative products, industrial processes, manufacturing techniques, scientific research methodologies, and improved engineering technologies with leaders in the industry. You will be working with a variety of clients at the forefront of technology, from entrepreneurs to public corporations, to evaluate and help prepare their research credit claims. In addition, you will work on developing customized, industry and engineering discipline-specific client surveys in our proprietary client-facing research credit technology platform (Prodigy) to solicit detailed information regarding the clients R&D efforts and projects.

You will manage multiple projects and EY teams simultaneously

Advise on and review work of junior colleagues on a daily basis

Responsible for staffing/scheduling of EY team members

Responsible for management of own daily project tasks, and those of the team, in order to meet client deadlines

Skills and attributes for success

Meet with clients and leverage your broad knowledge of current technologies to identify opportunities for claiming innovation in fields such as product development, industrial manufacturing, natural resources, pharmaceutical and high technology engineering.

Prepare detailed project descriptions of clients’ R&D activities.

Review detailed technical documentation such as technical specifications, technical papers, design documents, testing reports, etc. supporting our clients' R&D projects

Work with a multi-disciplinary group of accountants, attorneys and engineers to build a case for qualification of certain engineering projects for research credits and incentives.

Reviewing and providing comprehensive technical feedback on engineering narratives prepared by our Global Delivery Services teams

Analyzing, understanding and interpreting complex technical information provided by clients, to draw appropriate conclusions.

Ability to provide practical approaches and solutions to situations and apply critical thinking to ensure the delivery of high-quality technical work products.

Manage client expectations and adhere to deadlines

To qualify for the role you must have

An undergraduate or master’s degree in mechanical, engineering, chemical engineering, electrical engineering, industrial engineering, or related engineering field

5+ years of experience in R&D Credits or 6+ years of experience in technical consulting, engineering, pharmaceutical, high-tech or related fields.

Strong understanding of engineering techniques, product development, manufacturing processes, design methodologies and prototyping

Strong organizational and time management skills with a demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously

Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Teams

Creative thinking and technical writing abilities that enable you to effectively identify and describe the innovation within clients’ technology development efforts

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Ideally, you will also have

Professional licenses in architecture, engineering, green incentives, accounting, valuation, or law

MBA or Master of Taxation degrees

What we offerWe offer a comprehensive compensation and benefits package where you’ll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to the business. The salary range for this job in most geographic locations in the US is $91,600 to $167,900. The salary range for New York City Metro Area, Washington State and California (excluding Sacramento) is $109,900 to $190,800. Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography. In addition, our Total Rewards package includes medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and a wide range of paid time off options. Under our flexible vacation policy, you’ll decide how much vacation time you need based on your own personal circumstances. You’ll also be granted time off for designated EY Paid Holidays, Winter/Summer breaks, Personal/Family Care, and other leaves of absence when needed to support your physical, financial, and emotional well-being.
