Principal Software Engineer – Connected Payments Gateway (E-commerce Focus)Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Software Engineer to lead the development efforts for our flagship Connected Payments Gateway, with a particular emphasis on enhancing e-commerce functionality. This role involves designing and implementing software updates to our platform, which is built on the C#/.NET framework. The ideal candidate will be a seasoned professional with extensive knowledge and experience in the payments domain, who is capable of driving innovation and improvements in our product offering.Key Responsibilities:
Design, develop, and implement software updates and new features for the Connected Payments Gateway, with a special focus on expanding and improving e-commerce capabilities.
Lead technical design discussions and propose innovative solutions to complex problems.
Contribute to the architectural decisions and long-term strategy for the payments platform.
Mentor junior and mid-level engineers, providing guidance and support in their professional development.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product management and QA, to ensure timely and high-quality delivery of software updates.
Maintain in-depth knowledge of our technology stack (C#/.NET) and stay up-to-date with the latest trends and technologies in payments and ecommerce.
Participate in code reviews and set the standard for code quality in the team.
Engage with key stakeholders to gather requirements and translate business needs into technical solutions.
Suggest improvements to existing processes and actively participate in the continuous improvement of our engineering practices.
Foster an inclusive and collaborative team culture that encourages ownership, creativity, and innovation.
Advise on potential new projects and initiatives, leveraging your payments domain expertise to guide strategic decisions.
Requirements:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
A minimum of 10 years of professional software development experience, with a demonstrable track record of success in developing payment systems or related financial services applications.
Strong proficiency with C#/.NET, as well as familiarity with RESTful APIs, microservices architecture, and cloud-based environments.
Deep understanding of e-commerce systems, online payment processing, and the associated regulatory environment.
Outstanding leadership skills and the ability to mentor and inspire engineering teams.
Proven expertise in designing scalable, secure, and robust software systems.
Excellent problem-solving capabilities and the ability to manage complex projects with multiple stakeholders.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to a non-technical audience.
Commitment to writing clean, maintainable, and well-tested code.
A proactive and enthusiastic approach to work with a keen interest in staying abreast of the latest industry trends and best practices.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience in a Principal Engineer role or similar leadership position within a technical team.
Contributions to open-source projects or a strong portfolio of relevant projects.
Familiarity with additional programming languages and frameworks.
Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) compliance knowledge.
Salary Range:
