Meal Delivery Driver

POSITION SUMMARY
Meals on Wheels Yolo County ("MOW Yolo") is expanding our team with the addition of compassionate and reliable Meal Delivery Drivers. Reporting to the Volunteer Manager, this role supports MOW Yolo’s mission by ensuring accurate, timely delivery of hot and frozen meals to seniors and partner organizations throughout Yolo County and Northern California. Using MOW Yolo-owned or leased vehicles, drivers complete both bulk and time-sensitive deliveries, fostering positive connections with senior recipients and partners alike. As representatives of MOW Yolo, our drivers embody our "Eat Well, Age Well" initiative, which emphasizes nutritious food security and social engagement for the well-being of Yolo County seniors.
REGULAR WORK SCHEDULE
Part-time 20-25 hours/week, Monday - Friday. Exact days, hours, and locations are to be determined in consultation with the supervisor and can be subject to change.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Complete bulk hot and/or frozen meal deliveries to locations throughout Yolo County and Northern California using refrigerated vehicles owned or leased by MOW Yolo and equipment common to such deliveries.
Make time-sensitive deliveries of hot and/or frozen meals to seniors’ residences in Yolo County using vehicles owned or leased by MOW Yolo, and observing food safety protocols as instructed.
Maintain accurate delivery records, route sheets, and any interactions with seniors or partners requiring follow-up, often engaging with electronic systems and devices to do so.
Follow food handling and safety protocols to maintain meal quality during transport and delivery.
Exhibit a positive and enthusiastic attitude toward MOW Yolo’s mission and objectives in all internal and external interactions.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Licensed and able to operate vehicles owned or leased by MOW Yolo (including potentially larger/refrigerated vehicles) for up to six hours, with adherence to delivery schedules and food safety.
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs., bend below the waist, and reach above the head for multiple hours during loading, unloading, and delivery tasks.
Ability to use or learn to use a pallet jack and dolly for bulk deliveries (training will be provided).
Proven ability to perform established duties with minimal supervision, demonstrating reliability and initiative.
Competency in reading, writing, and basic math for accurate daily record-keeping.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, and other electronic systems.
Flexibility, creativity, and patience in adapting to fluid priorities and the needs of partners and seniors.
Professional demeanor with high standards for personal and professional hygiene.
Ability to engage with MOW Yolo’s Culture of Innovation, contributing ideas that advance the organization’s mission and vision.
POSITION LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS/VACCINATIONS:
Current California Driver’s License.
Proof of automobile insurance.
ServSafe Food Handler’s certification (MOW Yolo will pay for this training if needed).
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
$20.00 per hour, payable per the regular payroll schedule and subject to applicable withholding and payroll taxes.
Part-time employees receive vacation and sick time accrual, 10 paid holidays annually, and may participate in a 401(k) Retirement Savings Plan.
