We’re hiring a crackerjack Senior Personal Injury Legal Assistant (litigation paralegal level) to support a practice manager and help drive cases from intake through trial.

Compensation

Starting salary: $80,000 / year

Core responsibilities

Manage case workflow from intake through trial: triage new matters, open files, assign medical records, track statute of limitations and court deadlines.

Draft and polish litigation documents: demands, settlement letters, discovery responses, subpoenas, pleading exhibits, declarations, and basic pretrial motions.

Prepare and file court documents; e-file where required; maintain calendar (court dates, discovery, mediations, depositions).

Draft narrative case summaries, chronology, and trial notebooks for managers and attorneys.

Lead medical-records intake and review: organize bills, treatment chronology, life-care projections, and medical chronologies.

Draft, review, and negotiate medical liens, ERISA subrogation demands, and private-pay/Medicare/Medicaid holdback resolutions.

Assist with settlement calculations, disbursement spreadsheets, and closing checklists.

Handle client communications with empathy and professionalism; prepare clients for depositions, mediations, hearings.

Coordinate with experts, adjust vendor workflows (medical records, IME schedulers, vendors), and assist at trial (witness lists, exhibits, trial tech).

Mentor junior assistants/paralegals and ensure team compliance with office procedures and deadlines.

Minimum qualifications (must-haves)

Extensive personal injury experience: 5+ years in plaintiff side PI matters, demonstrable handling of cases from intake to trial.

Demonstrated mastery across the PI lifecycle: intake, demand, discovery, medical lien negotiation, pretrial, mediation, trial support.

Exceptional writing skills: proven ability to craft crisp, persuasive demands and to write clear, court-ready briefs and letters. (Writing sample required.)

Comfortable with court deadlines and calendaring; familiarity with state e-filing systems and local rules.

Experience negotiating medical liens, Medicare/Medicaid issues, ERISA/subrogation, and coordination with lienholders.

Strong client-facing skills — calm, empathetic, and professional under pressure.

Advanced user of MS Office (Word/Excel/Outlook), Adobe Acrobat, and at least one case management system (Filevine, TrialWorks, Clio, MyCase, or similar).

High integrity, excellent work ethic, and the ability to manage competing priorities.

Preferred / nice-to-have

Paralegal certificate or degree in legal studies.

Experience with trial exhibit management and courtroom presentation software.

AI knowledge

Familiarity with California civil procedure and local Sacramento court processes.

Experience with settlement accounting spreadsheets and basic financial reconciliation.
